storm fury I wouldn't take to much preference in the other trough therory, in fact the western part of this front looks to breaking off somewhat from the frontal-trough band of weather. Pressures in the gulf are lower in the eastern gulf, but if the main blob of convection continues south bound to the middle of the gom and the trough lifts out, then something else could be in the making. I've seen it before in the gom, no reason it could not happen again in a day or two
