Northern GOM

Nothing other than a lot of rain will develope in the northern GOM any time soon. UL winds are unfavorable....MGC

Do I dear say that my latest look at the upper level shear map indicates strong shear to the north of the northern Gulf coast. Values aren't that high over the northern Gulf and really low across the eastern GOM/off the Florida west coast.

storm fury I wouldn't take to much preference in the other trough therory, in fact the western part of this front looks to breaking off somewhat from the frontal-trough band of weather. Pressures in the gulf are lower in the eastern gulf, but if the main blob of convection continues south bound to the middle of the gom and the trough lifts out, then something else could be in the making. I've seen it before in the gom, no reason it could not happen again in a day or two

Coldfront, ditch your maps, take a look at the WV loop. Tons of shear in eastern GOM. Conditions slightly better off Texas.....MGC

That is why I said "do I dear say." No reason to ditch maps, they exist for a reason and I am obviously not the only one that looks at them.
