Wow what happened to this board?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

LLC is short for low level circulation or more commonly known as LLCC low level circulation center, meaning a well developed(hopefully)low pressure circulation center had made it to the surface and thus we have a developing tropical cyclone.

....The list goes on, maybe we should start a thread that explains all of these.

I think it would be a good idea to have a thread that explains the most common acronyms used on the Storm2k board. Especially as explained by vbhoutex as above. At least now when I see the term used I understand more.

Thanks again.

Wainfleeter - that's a great idea! Feel free to start a new thread. Asking for members to contribute acronyms of their choice. I need to learn them also. Just a wx novice myself.

I don't post that often because I really don't know squat about the dynamics of weather, that's why I'm here. I'm an old geezer (48 y/o) and there are a few things that excite my old heart. Here they are in no particular order. Gators beat the Noles (happens about once a decade), Gators beat the Vols (maybe every other year), Mom's Apple Pie, a Nice Big storm in the GOM and last, but not least...well, I shouldn't have to tell you what the last one is.

Me too. Been on the boards forever, but mostly read. I am a little older a geezer by 2 years, but I do know what you mean about certian things that get the old heart beating....especially the last one LOL! My kind of guy! Nice to meet you!

Many members only sign in read and make an occassional post when there is something approaching and affecting the United States.

There weren't many that joined last year that continued coming to the site between November and May to discuss other weather topics and even take part in the off topic forum.

I'm guilty of the November and May absence - but you can bet I'm here 24/7 June-November <grin>. I am an addict for tropical weather information, and endure the winter weather unless we are getting something unusual here.

Tom, have to laugh again. Yep, I am one of those lurkers/readers. But this year I have more time on my hands to actually apply myself to learning more. The funny part is I keep 'forgetting' there is more to Storm2k than just the Hurricane Hollow Tropical threads. Going to check out the rest of the board the next couple days.

Looking forward to posting more with everyone.

No problem, Mattie and Wainfleeter.

I look forward to your posts as you look around the board, Wainfleeter. I am sure others feel the same way, as well. :)

This isn't related to hurricanes, but there is a nice little severe weather outbreak underway in IA, IL and IN right now. Check out my post in the US weather watch room.

I'm sure that a fair number of folks haven't been able to get to the board, like myself. ;) Finally got power back this evening at the place I'm staying (still out at home,) and now am trying to figure out just what exactly happened.

Welcome to all the former lurkers :-) If the last couple of weeks is any indication we're just taking a breather ;-) Please use the time to take a loo at the rest that the board and the site offers! We're always interested in new ideas to help improve the site! Please bring your suggestions up in the Tips and Suggestion Forum and we'll do our best to make them happen! :-)
