And the duck lands!!!

What a landing there Shawn - wow, feel for you right now. You are under a lot of stress it sounds like! One minute/day at a time. Try to take back your lunch breaks too! Well, you just hang in there. Next week has to be better than this one was!!! And....

TGIF!!! (that is if you don't have to work Saturday?)

GalvestonDuck wrote:Sheesh! Gone for a few hours (okay, just checked my last post...make that "Gone for a day...") and ya panic, RS? Appreciate the concern.

Just working my butt off because two coworkers were off (one all week, one for the first three days). In addition, I needed to go to a meeting, which took me away from work I needed to get done. And then yesterday, my computer sound card (or something) went on the fritz and so now I can't listen to stuff on my computer (which is work-related, along with being entertainment during times when I can listen to the radio or Round Table feeds).

Doesn't help that one associate died, we've taken over her duties, and the higher-ups want us to work our 40 hours on our regular duties and then do OVERTIME for the other stuff (when do I have time to be there for overtime? I've worked through my lunches this week. :grr: ). In addition to that, my awesome, multi-skilled, management-minded, team-empowering, and darn right cute blonde boss has been "realigned" so she won't be our boss after next week (originally we knew about this in April, but they've been putting it off and putting it off...with no complaints from me). No offense to the new boss (who wants us working OT) -- I have to give her a chance before I really complain. But now, we've got to move offices....again! Moving from one building to another is usually an all day thing -- Info Services has to move our computers and another company moves our files and other boxes. We'll come in at 8:00, have everything unplugged and boxed up by 9:00 (when they're supposed to be there), they'll get there at about 9:45, the IS guys will get there at the same time and they'll have to work around each other, everything will be packed by 11:30, then the mover guys will take a lunch break, IS will have to go answer some call about a virus-infected computer, we'll go ahead and eat lunch also, we'll go to our new offices at 1:00, we'll wait for the movers guys to get through the trolley construction on campus and then to the loading dock, they'll get things upstairs to us and completely unloaded by 2:30, we'll start unpacking but someone will be missing her chair, IS will get back at 3:00 and have us hooked up and ready to go by 4:00, but by then, who really wants to sit down and try to get into a day's worth of work in one hour? Besides...the printer won't work.

Nah, seriously, I'm trying to be more positive than that. But, you know the saying -- plan for the worst, hope for the best! :)

Oh, and Helen?...

Wow, Duck - that moving thing SU - er, stinks!! And,
btw, HOW do you get your IS people to move that fast?
Every time I call, it's, "Ummmm....that IS one of OUR
computers....right?" "Ummmm...I dunno....we may have
bought this one on E-Bay...."

Well, anyway, it sure is good to see that things are
all duckie around here, again....!

Thanks, gang!

I'm not letting it get me too stressed really. I work well under pressure anyway - unruffled on the surface, but paddling like hell underneath - as a duck should. :) Just as long as I keep all my ducks in a row, it's good.
