La Quinta Inn Ft Lauderdale-Cypress Creek I-95 none none

This may be a far reach for some that are trying to escape from Florida but if you do decide to go as far as Biloxi, Mississippi the Biloxi Beachfront Hotel; a 268 room hotel located right on the beach road as we locals call it; on U.S. Highway 90; a hotel which was previously the Holiday Inn Coliseum Hotel; located next to the Coliseum & Convention Center; in Biloxi, Mississippi does accept pets although I do believe the hotel requires a pet deposit; the amount I do not know. Hotel details are listed below.

Biloxi Beachfront Hotel
2400 Beachfront Boulevard
Biloxi, MS 39531

Phone: 1-(228)-388-3551

Sometimes hotels will relax their pet policies during a major weather event too.

TWC had a segment on yesterday or Saturday discussing a hotel in Orlando that relaxed their no pet rules for the hurricane. Jeff Morrow was staying there and reported that there were alot of happy dogs and owners there.

great Topic!

I remember during Isabel..wondering what to do with my 2 dogs..I loved them as much as any animal Lover knows...I could not leave them..no way no how!! I'm surrounded by woods ..the 100 year old oaks make a catherdral effect over my house..Funny, and I understand..I was asked
to stay at friend's homes..no request for my Chow and Maltese..I do understand..I think?..So I found a hotel..not expensive at all..took pets..
and my SO omy Sig/other and the doggies felt safe..it worked out..
I can't emphasize enough how people will stay in the most ominous/threatening ofcircumstances to be with their pets AND I UNDERSTAND!!
...After loosing both of my pets within 3 mos while my elderly father
has been so ill...the void goes deep..no words..I do so much understand
why people ride out the storm because of lack of shelter for pets..thinking
of a lady who just would not come in out of a storm from her car because
RC ..at the time ..I was putting together the shelters..she wouldn't
leave her dog and remained in her car so very afraid..Won't tell ya what happened :-) It worked out! :-)
Thanks for the Topic..it 's so important!

(((HUGS))) Ocean Dreamer! I'm sorry to hear about your two pets and your father.

There are A TON of animal lovers/owners on this board. I hope I'm never put in that type of situation.

My father and his girlfriend had told me about Super 8 motels a few years ago accepting pets. They live in Colorado and love to travel. Thta gave me the idea that there has to be more and more hotels that are pet friendly. I was quite happy to see the number of chains out there that are. I think that our furry "children" are being recognized more and more as a part of the family and not just something "owned". It's great to see!

Orlando- Portofino

#29 Postby suew » Tue Sep 07, 2004 4:20 pm

Hi

We stayed at the Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando with our dog during the Hurricane. It was great-they even have room service menu for your pets(dogs and cats) :) No restrictions - animals can go pretty much anywhere with you- except pool and restaurants- lots of land for them to run around also-

We went to LaQuinta on Universal Blvd. in Orlando, during Hurricane Frances. All rooms allowed for pets. We had a smoking room. We had complimentary breakfast, and we did
our laundry. They even gave us light sticks incase the lights
went out.

Does anybody have info on pet friendly hotels in Georgia? I'm thinking about going up there. I don't have to be in a metro area, just far enough out of FL to evade the brunt of this storm.

I think I have enough family spread out on the east coast, so I'll be able to find somewhere to stay if I have to evacuate. However...well, I assume that no hotel would accept five (5!) pets staying with my family of three (3 dogs/2 cats) -- but...does anyone know different???

I'm so glad to see so much attention paid to this issue & the good info posted on places that do take pets. I would never (NEVER!) leave my pets during a storm...it's a wonder as it is if my husband can tear me away from them for a weekend vacation once a year...

I've been checking many hotels in FLA and farther away in the last few days. Apparently, all Motel 6 locations accept pets. Many Sheraton properties do. I've also found Quality Inns, La Quinta Inns, Staybridge Suites, Amerisuites, Westins, and Ramadas that accept pets.

I've also noticed that if you book through a site like Expedia, you might get a lower rate, but a stricter cancellation policy. It can be easier to go to a chain's site, see their pet policy, and book through the site. I did get better prices that way (internet specials) than on the phone.

The costs I saw were from nothing to $5 to $10 a night for pets. Small price to pay for peace of mind of having Bear with me when I hit the road tomorrow or Saturday.

I'm hoping I can fit his crate into the vehicle I'm renting for this evacuation journey...

Good luck Stormie & KeyLargoDave!

It really is great to see so many hotels recognizing that your pets are "family".

JW Marriott in Orlando is accepting pets during this time. They do have a $75 fee for the duration of the stay to steam clean the carpet on check out. There are many dogs here. I am staying after evacuating yesterday from Fort Myers. Hopefully I can go home next Tuesday or Wednesday. In the meantime, nice pool and a Ritz Carlton Spa. Cane Watcher Lucy

Most hotel/motels that do not allow pets, do not enforce it! I have worked in various ones and trust me they want the customer happy!! People that smoke even smoke in non-smoking rooms and they don't care! AS LONG AS THE CUSTOMER IS HAPPY!!

I think pet shelters are much better.

Smoking rooms are bad enough, don't need no pets in bed with me.
