Not sure how I missed this, Mary. Probably during all the Frances/Ivan craziness. My apologies for not replying earlier. However, I really didn't have a good link. Usually there's a fall preview schedule somewhere but I never found it.

Shawn - that's okay! I had a hard time finding info at TV Guide also this year, unlike last year. Frustrating! Now I'm caught up. We didn't miss a show yet (knock on wood). We have a new DVR with our Dish/Satellite. Jim spent some time putting in all our favorite show titles. It's a good thing b/c if he hadn't done that we would have missed That 70's Show premiere a few weeks ago!

Today when I wanted to remind people the CBS Monday lineup starts tonight, I didn't want to start a new thread, since well we're not supposed to do that if we can help it. So I just tacked it on here!!! Didn't have any spoilers though....

Hey anyone care to discuss Survivor? I didn't see who got voted off, coming, that went right past me!!!

Mary,

The first ten minutes of Survivor: Vanuatu was quite different...a native tribe did a ceremony where (it seems women are 2nd class in that country so to say) and they did dancing and then came along some men from the tribe w/ a hog tied black boar...they kill it for eating later on. Also, the tribe offers to the guys in this surivor game a drink of like ashy-looking stuff! YUCK!
The guys and gals in this game are separated into tribes...one all guys...the other gals...and they go look for their beach area flags after the ceremony.
The women were ignored during the entire ceremony it seemed.

The guys tribe had to go to council this first week and Brook was voted off.

Eric - at least you know names. I'm not that good yet with this new group. I honestly thought the guy with the pony tail, who was so critical of others (and couldn't shimmey across the narrow board/bridge) would be voted off!

I don't see the older lady with the artificial knee lasting long. No offense to her or her condition but she was balking at walking right off the bat! They had to pull her thru the challenge last week (and if you looked closely enough she lost her top, yikes). Poor lady but IMHO, I don't know why she signed up for Survivor in the first place. I did like her term for the young cute girls - the sorority girls.....that nickname sure fit!

Mary,

The guy w/ the ponytail is Chris, I believe. There's also the African-American guy named Rory who seems like an argumentive type...I'm surprised he wasn't voted off this first week...instead of Brook.

You mentioned the gal w/ the artificial knee...there's also a guy in the game named Chad (he's a school teacher) anyway he lost his lower leg to cancer he was explaining to his tribe mates...yet, what an inspiration he is as he strives along!

Eric - I meant to mention Chad. He is an inspiration! Seems the type that will do his share of hard work too. Unlike the lady with the bum knee, although she was helping build the shelter.

I find myself missing Rupert though. I need to find one in this bunch I can root for - hey maybe it will be Chad! He has that positive outlook on life, similar to Rupert.

Guess I don't miss the Romber moments though....LOL

Mary,

I enjoyed those ads where Rupert analyzed future peeps who were going to be on Survivor: Vanuatu! :D

He was my favorite on that series before this latest! Also in the Survivor: All-Stars! :) Did you know Rupert is from Indianapolis?

*************************************************************
I enjoy watching Everybody Loves Raymond...and what a surprise to see Frank and Marie head off to a retirement condo complex in Jersey!

Ray, Debra, Robert and Amy I imagine will really enjoy their "freedom" NOW!! :D Nice to see Robert and Amy land Frank and Marie's house! :)

*************************************************************

And for CSI: Miami...RIP Tim "Speed" Speedle...one of Miami's crime scene investigators' finest! :(

Eric - I remember that Rupert is from Indy. 2 weeks ago he was at the Cincy Zoo signing autographs, allowing pictures with fans. The article I read said he took time with each fan. And he still can't believe he's THIS popular. Rupert says he's just a regular guy or something like that. That is his appeal, IMO. He reminds fans of someone they know personally - a brother/dad/neighbor/coworker/friend. Because he's so real and down to earth, that is what fans like I think. At least that's what I like about him - Rupert seems like the type you could instantly have a conversation with and it would be genuine.

Raymond.....wow, did not see this coming at all! And here I've been complaining for a few seasons now that this show needs to shake things up. I was really hoping Ray and Deb would become separated and almost divorce, making her see how mean and crabby she is (notice I didn't use a word that better fits her character here...LOL). But I'll take this change. The easy shocker would have been a baby for Amy and Robert, but would be too obvious and expected. What was funny though was seeing Marie and Frank all lovey-dovey - when all of the others sat there with their mouths hanging open, I think mine was too. You were like huh? Is this the Twilight Zone? But, and there's always a but somewhere.....you know this will not last. Someone will criticize Marie's cooking or she won't get the lead in a play. And she'll demand the house back. By then the plastic covered couch will be long gone! So I salute the writers - they finally did something new with this format!!! Yeah I say.....what a way to shake things up.

Did you catch Two and a Half Men Eric? It was a funny start to the second season. Especially with the 4 guests....won't say anymore in case others haven't watched it yet.

We didn't care for Jason Alexander's new show. His character isn't too bad, but the daughter is hard to take. My 14 year old said - I hate the daughter Mom. We all sighed and said yep, she's hard to like.

Still Standing was okay. More of the same, behavior you were expect the parents to exhibit. You do wonder by now though why a counselor hasn't been alarmed at their lack of parenting skills by now.....

Sorry we don't watch CSI. Caught one show in reruns over the summer and it was quite good. But I have plenty of shows to watch still.

They killed off Speedle? What the heck? Why?

I'll confess, I'm not a die-hard CSI fan (the original competes with Must-See-TV...what, are you kidding me? Me watch anything but NBC on Thursdays?? :) ) But I've seen quite a few reruns during the summer of both the original and Miami (love that Emily Proctor!). There's no romantic angst in it like ER (Kerry and whoever), JAG (Mac & Harm), and *sigh* Third Watch (Bosco & Faith). But it is an interesting, exciting show.

I'm surprised -- now I'll have to wonder, contract disputes or did he want to leave and become a movie star (kinda like David Caruso thought he was gonna do when he left ABC and "NYPD Blue").

I should add that the only reason I watched a CSI rerun over the summer, was I didn't know Rory Cochrane (Slater in Dazed & Confused and Lucas in Empire Records) starred in it! He was actually quite good. Glad he's in a regular show now....

Mary,

I'm just not a big fan of Two And A Half Men and didn't care for Listen Up either.

Shawn,

I guess the actor who played Speedle (forget what his real life name is) he apparently didn't renew his contract for another whole season...but it would seem that it could have been a better exit for him IMHO....why the producers couldn't just have Speedle making a job transfer to another law enforcement agency for ie. Seems more often than not it's always a ratings game having to have an extreme event (violent) exit so to say.

Eric - that's okay about Two and a Half Men. I imagine it's a show that either grabs you right away or it doesn't. I see myself in Alan, the suddenly divorced father trying to learn to be single again (my life back in 1984). Thankfully I didn't have kids but the way he reacts is what I remember sometimes - sheer panic! Our daughter Laura likes the little boy and his dead-pan comebacks. She of course is our tomboy so you can see why she likes this show. Again, I realize some may like it or some may say, that's not for me.

I will probably have to let go of 8 Simple Rules this year. It's up against Survivor and Joey. We already record the last two and I can't see trying to squeeze in a third show! Wish they hadn't moved it.

I was glad to see you didn't care for Listen Up either. The only likeable character in that family was the son!

Mary

PS - self edit....found this critique on TV Guide's website today....mentioning many shows here we're discussing - Raymond, Listen Up, Two...., and CSI. Well, the surprise is on me I guess, Rory Cochrane played the character on CSI they just bumped off! And here I was saying good for him, that's he a regular on a show.....dang. Give it a read, if you care to, lots of tid-bits in this column.

That is sad the Speedle was killed off (CSI:Miami) He was one the greatest IMHO. I really enjoyed his character. I'm still replaying that scene in my head (Horatio and Speed) at the jewerly store.

Survivor: It was really neat to see the traditions on the island. I couldn't believe that the guy climbed up the pole to get immunity. I guess, you do what you have to. (i.e. Pay Attention to details!) How could you not balance on a 2 x 4 beam? If you can't do what the others did... crawl!

I watched CSI: Vegas and ER tonight... and were amazed of the shows. CSI was interesting! ER was just as shocking as the last episode of last season. Weaver gets custody, Pratt and Jing May in the water (w/ elgin) Abby's new coat! It certainly was an awesome episode.

I'm thankful I got to see it all. :)

*sigh* Kerry has (almost) long hair again. Finally!

Re: CSI Miami's Speedle's demise.....to fans who were shocked he'd be written out, read this interview I found:
http://www.csifiles.com/interviews/rory_cochrane.shtml

That might explain why the character was killed off.

ER - Shawn, finally watched it. The pace was incredibly fast, as always. Couldn't bear to watch the underwater scene so I flipped past that. Sad that the boy died. Sad scene with the baby's ashes.....looks like we have Sam back. Sure hope this means Luca settles down now. And it was nice to see Kerry get Henry (what a name!) back. Some loose ends tied up, neatly right off the bat. I still find myself missing Mark Greene though - always will.

Yup, Sam -- in KY -- what a trip.

No Susan yet. But she'll be back. Lizzie was there however.

Kerry's long hair...think I already mentioned that. Definite plus.

Dang...no ER this week. :(

Shawn - you and Kerry's hair....LOL Cracking me up!

I picked up on the 502 area code, the second I heard it!!! That was quite a fer piece for Luca to go to so quickly. That's what a 6 hour drive easily from Chicago? I want to say even more like 8? Didn't he call in after he found Sam or didn't he show up again after he found her? Forget now, we erased it from the DVR.....

ER: I haven't seen all of the episodes from last season, but saw the one Thursday. Are Jing May and Pratt back together? Sad that Elgin died. That show aways manages to keep you on the edge of your seat.

American Dreams: My husband and I are addicted. Anyone see it Sunday? I am wondering if they are going to have Sam and Meg get together this season.

As for Raymond, that show has raised the bar in m book. I really expected Robet and Amy to have a baby and this storyine about the parents is surprising, but perfect. Will be fun to see how it plays out. :)

chicagopizza - cute nic! I'll answer your questions....

I watched American Dreams while my daughter was watching. Didn't actually see every segment, but I know enough to know what's going on. I've wondered if Sam and Meg will get together. That would make the dad just flip out though! As I listen to the many storylines going on, I think today Sam and Meg would be able to date. But it wasn't that way back then. I wonder what's going to become of JJ and Beth. For a while there it seemed as if she was all wrong for him, but now that a baby is on the way, I do see a marriage soon. BTW, I called that pregnancy! My daughter rolled her eyes when I said you watch, Beth will get pregnant.

Raymond...ugh where do I start. My family likes this show more than I do. I can't stand Debra. I also thought Robert and Amy would be expecting, not for the parent's to move out! For a while there I wondered if the writers were pulling a Dallas - a dream episode. Frank and Marie moving away is really Deb's dream come true. Raymond deep down likes his mom fussing over him, I suspect. When they moved out I said they'll be back. Sure enough, not even one full episode to enjoy without them living across the street again did we have....we had mere minutes to enjoy their absence. It was hilarious though when Ray said it was them, not the rest of them, all these years. You and your WW2 buddies have spoken. LOL There's a funny review over at TV Guide's website, look for the Watercooler column about this week's show.

Now I wonder how long Robert and Amy can stand living under the same roof with Frank and Marie! And you know her parents are going to show up.

I do applaud the writers doing something different though. It's about time!
