Petal >>isobar.......the forensic scientist I listened to the other morning explained this by saying that the baby was protected from damage or deterioration because of the protection of being inside the mothers body. As the mothers body deteriorated, the tiny infant drifted loose. This explained the varying amount of deterioration found in both bodies. Hope this helps.......p <<

Oh my hadn't heard that. That poor baby......this whole story makes it even sadder. Sad for the anxiously awaiting Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles, planning baby showers, feeling the baby kick, getting so wrapped up in Laci's pregnancy. I feel such utter sadness for them all but now hearing how the baby came to be separated from Laci makes it almost unbearable......you don't even know this family and you want to say how sorry you are about it all. And then again you want to respect their privacy. Can't imagine their grief right now. I have 2 daughters, 12 and 15 and it even hits closer to home with me. You hope and pray as a parent your daughter will choose a good man to marry when that day comes. A man you could call your own son. Scott certainly was none of those things.

Good thing they arrested the SOB, he died his hair blonde and has a beard now. Probably was getting ready to head to the border.
My heart goes out to Laci's family, I can't imagine what they are going thru. Losing your precious dtr, who was about to give birth to their first grandchild. I feel for Scott's family, too. After all, they can't be blamed for what their son did. They lost their grandchild, too and now their son. This is a sad situation any way you look at it.

This is so sad and really makes me sick.

You know, I've been asking the question over and over of how Scott could do this to his own wife and son, trying to figure out HOW and WHY he could do something so horrible. But now I think I don't want to know. I really don't. I don't want to know how or why his heart could be so terribly evil that he would do something so awful. I can't understand now and I won't understand later. I guess I'm not capable.

I feel such deep sorrow for Laci's family and friends. I can't imagine what they are going through. Scott's punishment won't be harsh enough for me because I know it won't be as bad as what that tiny baby and young mom went through.

Did you all know that Scott was in a McDonald's drive-thru window while they were identifying the body of his little boy??? :x :x :x

Lindaloo,
They have been saying all last night and this morning, Scott will be charged w/ capital murder for the death of his wife and son. Even defense attorneys aren't arguing his case on tv, they say Scott Peterson has hung himself. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!!!

I've noticed that some reporters are calling the two bodies "Laci and Connor"......meaning that this unborn child had already been given a name.

The change in hair color and beard sure seemed like his plans were to make a quick departure to me too. I also heard he had moved closer to Mexico......this made the law believe his plans were to run.

Sure hope no fame-seeking-lawyer tries to get this guy off!........p

Ever since this story broke, the name Connor was mentioned. They must have decided on the name during the Fall of 2002.

Scott's parents [family] lives in San Diego; he apparently was spending some time with them and the playing golf at a nearby golf course.... where he was arrested late yesterday morning (PDT).

He is being held in the jail on charges of murder with special circumstances. The best I understand they have to add special circumstances so that he can't be out on bond. That means he must be a flight risk!

What's even more disturbing is that a young woman disappeared from college in the early 90's...at the same time Scott Peterson was also attending there.

That PD is now reevaluating her case in light of this arrest, to see if there was any connection between Peterson and the missing coed.

California law gives them the right to charge both cases as Capital Murder.

As I understand it, California has a fetal death law which allows him to be charged with the murder of Conner even though he hadn't taken his first breath.

Interesting to hear this morning that he had $10,000 in cash and his brothers I.D. on him when he was arrested. How many of us would carry 10 grand in cash? He was in San Diego with the intent to slip into Mexico. That's why the police arrested him before the findings were made public. Good job from the law enforcement guys! :-)

If Scott was in San Diego and his parents didn't live in that city... then the chances of him certainly escaping into Mexico would by no question be higher.

Despite his arrest, Scott's family is supporting him. Yes I agree, they lost a grandson too and a sweet daughter-in-law but my gosh, can they be so blind? I guess you'd have to support your loved one at a time like this.......it would be hard for me......how could they possibly not believe he did it? Maybe the truth is too hard to bear.

I know he did it - and he got caught and is in custody - my question now - is WHY and WHAT HAPPENED? Guess we will have to wait for the trial to find out details - unless he gives a full confession.

Patricia - you and I agree on something again. I know he did it too, have always said that from the first I heard this story break. I almost always blame the family now, terrible to think like that. But ever since I believed Susan Smith way back when, I look more closely at the family member(s) now. You hate to think like that but in Laci's case you knew almost certainly he did it. And then his behavior following her disappearance sealed it for me. Why would he sell her car? Try to sell the house? You'd think he'd keep the house in tact along with the nursery for when she returned. That's when you knew she wasn't returning. I'd like to know how and why and when too, but I have a gut feeling he won't reveal that. He'll plead innocent right up until the time he goes off to prison. And then the prison population will have their say.

As the jail population is having their say right now.....Miss Mary you bring up a good point - when the Susan Smith story broke - I had a sinking suspicion that she was involved - and how right I was later on - I know there are statistics out there - but its probably a very high percentage were victims were killed by own family members.

Scott Peterson has that cocky - I'm no wrong attitude - hope the state has an iron clad case on him.

I hope they throw the book at him!!!!! The only thing that bothers me is what his parents said...That it was too obvious..why would he keep receipts and so on..but I think he figured she'd never be found??? He did change his appearance alot!!!!He was about to skip town

I agree Ticka. He has that do no wrong attitude. And by his parents response, I wonder who raised him to be that way?

Get the needles ready, boys.
