I'm back but I'm not a happy camper. Be forewarned!
Mary
PS - and ya know, I meant to explain that bong reference I used here. You see the Daily Show was criticized by Fox News a few weeks ago. Fox said the DS fans were nothing but a bunch of "stoned slackers", because they supported Kerry. I am not a slacker and I'm certainly not stoned, just because I supported Kerry. That was a tongue in cheek comment, and I was hoping most here would know I am not that way. But if you thought so, so be it. I'm not exactly in a good mood today. No "Miss" about it anyway....

Well I totally agree with ya. I mean like I said above, argument was probably good during the run-up to the election, but not now that it's over. As for the slacker/stoned reference, well, even though in the end I wound up supporting the President, it bothers me to see such a thing used. I know you're not like that, because I've known ya here a good long while, and it really bothers me thinking anyone would say or think that about anyone here! (Warning: political-type promise coming!) If I ever...and I mean EVER...see anything like that, I'm gonna report it! You all have my WORD on that!

Thanks Jeremy, Furry, Eric and Annette for welcoming me back today. And so nicely I might add. I was in a funk today. It's starting to subside.....may return again though if the Commander in Chief doesn't hold up his end of the deal....oops, said something political. It took me many months to get over Gore losing in 2000 and this time around, it was just so sad to realize it wasn't meant to be again. So you all just have to bear with the Storm2K Democrats/Liberals/Independents b/c well, we're just SAD.
Attention Annette - there will be no slackers at Storm2K.....maybe we'll pull up a few chairs to await the Peterson trial hearing's outcome. Talk about sad....I will be satisfied when that scumbag is convicted but it won't take away the fact Laci and her baby are gone. So we do need something to really celebrate with our lawn chairs soon!!! New Year's? he he

Bill - I didn't fully embrace Pres. Bush until after 9/11. Each time I'd see him on TV or pictured in the paper, I swear I said outloud sometimes - you shouldn't be President! Gore should be! The evening Sept. 11th speech to the nation started me on the Bush-path (which I departed from this past year, and maybe when the Iraq war started). When he stood at Ground Zero and gave that moving speech, it clinched it. I think then and there I said to myself - maybe Bush was meant to win? Not that Gore wouldn't have great in this terrible tragedy too. I'd never, ever want something as tragic as 9/11 to bring us all together again. But it would be nice to get back to all-for-one and one-for-all attitude this country had after 9/11.

Hello Mary...they say you can never go home...but you can, and you did. You are surely a very important part (like Bill and others) of this Storm2k family.
Like most families..we don't agree, and we even say things to upset others around us. This has grown to be a very large one...and as with any larger group, there are some who misuse their opportunity or misfire a bullet now and then.
There have been pockets of time over the years when America has felt "all for one," but in general every decade has had its share of devisiveness...some more than others. I start with the reality that President Bush is genuine in his love for his country and his own way of showing that. I respect that immensely. I would have respected it in Kerry as well.
But for now, for this time, it is THIS President we must now stand with during the next maize of decisions. The wonderful thing about this country is that if we, as a whole, decide it is time for a change, we actually control that! And a change will come in our leadership in four years.
Meantime, we need to look for common ground, not exaggerate our differences, and slowly and deliberately pick away at the disappointments we all feel....with this President; that we would with any President.
He can only really let us down if we really let ourselves down and walk away from that hard work.

Steve - this reply is only one of at least 5 I've read lately from you. In each you say it so well, you cut thru the bickering, the defeated feelings many of us have, the many cheers/high fives others are feeling, and bring us back to what's important - finding that common ground.
Want to be the Storm2K Goodwill Ambassador (if there's such a title)? Between you and Marshall, I don't know who's better at cutting thru the you know what around here. And saying what truly is the issue - we are ONE family here. And ONE country. Last I checked.
Thanks for your reply.

I'm glad that you're back! Poppysky ALWAYS has the right words to say at the right time. We absolutely need to find that common ground again. Nothing will get accomplished if we keep bickering amongst ourselves and blaming each other for the problems at hand instead of saying "how can WE fix them?"
