wow... that was very rude, considering how much of an expert wxguy25 is. He is a PROFESSIONAL METEOROLOGIST. He does not make things up because he lives in Florida. He and Don know what they are talking about with lots of experience to back themselves up. NWIASpotter had some good thoughts, too. Try to realize that there are lots of people around here that know what they are talking about whether they forecast 100" of snow for you or -1220".

Craig your being rude. I don't know how old you are Craig but when a professional meterologist gives you information please give them the respect they deserve. What in the world does his living in Florida matter when giving a prediction in the heartland. Do you think they only teach them forecasting for the state in which they reside? I hope that you didn't intentionally mean to be rude and maybe it just came off sounding like that. I would hope that you would offer an apology.

Well, I live in the Midwest and I appreciate the efforts of all our forecasters, no matter where they live!!! They receive the same computer data a forecaster living right here in the Ohio Valley does!!!

Just a brief update...

Models have been trending colder in recent days. It appears that areas north and west of Omaha have a chance at a significant snowfall. Omaha may still be on the bubble so to speak but there should be accumulations even there and across eastern Nebraska Wednesday and Thursday.

Omaha will probably see the event begin as rain then change to freezing rain, sleet, and finally accumulating snow. After the storm, moderation in temperatures should again occur.

Early idea for Omaha: Rain to freezing rain to sleet to accumulating snow (most of the snow will fall on Wednesday but could linger into Thursday): 2"-5".

North and west of Omaha could see 6" or more snowfall.

The models have continued to trend toward a larger frozen event, so this will still have to be watched.

After bitter cold with temperatures falling into the lower teens and single digits on Thursday, moderation should follow. It would not be surprising if Omaha reached 40° either Sunday or Monday.

Models have trended toward a snowier solution in eastern Nebraska over the past few days. Overall, the storm should bring a lot of snow to a large part of the Plains to the Great Lakes region and then parts of upstate New York and New England.

My estimates for total snowfall through the event:

Bridgeport: 1" or less
Boston: 2"-4"
Chicago: 6"-12" locally higher amounts
Cleveland: 2"-5"
Detroit: 4"-8"
Kansas City: 2" or less (mostly ice)
Omaha: 6"10" with a foot north and west of the city
Providence: 2"-4"
White Plains: Coating
