Do you play a musical instrument?

Cajun Mama!!! I hear ya......we'd be quite the pair in a band....I'm musicially declined also. So is my husband! Ironically he and his sister both run a local music business their dad started over 45 years ago (manufacturing CD's, cassette's, CDroms' for local and regional bands/musicians). So we know many talented musicians. We just do not play instruments ourselves! People often ask - do you play ANY instrument (you'd think we did)....we have an antique victrola (Jim's xmas gift when we first got married), an antique mike (similar to what you see on Letterman's show or used to, we had two hand me down violins in the basement, needing work. Our oldest took up strings in 4th grade and has now played violin for 8 years. She enjoys it, it's not quite her passion but it's a nice outlet on the HS level (orchestra). We exposed her to piano lessons but she didn't care for them. We did the same for our youngest daughter but the piano teacher was very strict. She hated piano. 2 years went by and we tried anonther teacher/after school class. Well, the teacher makes ALL the difference in the world. Laura loved piano so much so that she pestered us terribly to buy a piano. We took a loan out for one 2 years ago and next to the dog, we say that was the best thing this family ever 'purchased' (still paying it off at $120 a month). She plays no less than 2 hours a day and composes her own music. People ask us how we accomplished her love of piano, etc. We just smile and said it was our daughter who asked to play and get a piano. We've never pushed her. Sometimes we have to ask her to STOP playing to do homework! I love how this turned out. Yes piano is her passion. You can see it on Laura's face - she is someplace else when she sits down to play, she's instantly relaxed and in another world.

So see, we still know many talented musicians - our daughters. We enjoy listening to music in this house - a lot. And iTunes is going a lot on this computer - oh yeah!!!

Loved your 'musically declined' nic......that would be me too!

Played the flute and the oboe in HS. Haven't played anything in years! One daughter tried flute and gave it up. Another daughter started violin last year and really enjoys it, we will see where she goes with it.
