None of these convection complexes are tropical waves. These are just common wind surges associated with the ITCZ. Remember that tropical waves are features that create a disruption of the trade winds and are tracked at least in the low-levels throughout the tropical Atlantic. These wind surges we're seeing DO NOT track across the Atlantic.
Tropical waves don't start to roll in until the month of May...

I think starting the season June 1st is to cover any suprises that might occur. I have noticed on home video every September the last couple of years , I have radar loops of tropical systems crossing Florida in all different degrees of development. Last year they all had it together when crossing. I know anything can happen but I'm guessing late August , September, Florida has a Cape Verd date!
