In a seperate but related story, it was reported that Home Depot is now the official sponsor of the 2005 Hurricane Season. They are working feverishly with several leading University Meteorlogical Departments to find a way to attach their logo to a storm. One un-named source close to the project stated that they seriously underestimated the difficulty of such a task.

The general consensus was that if they could keep their logo from flying off a 200mph race car, then the significantly slower wind speeds of a hurricane should pose no problems. They were obviously wrong, and to this point have been unsuccessful in accomplishing the task. There has been some excitement generated, however, over their new alliance with 3M. Again, an un-named source said that this partnership should yield a new generation of duct tape that will put the tape currently used on their race cars to shame.

Also, Home Depot's advertising department is currently taking applications from individuals who would be interested in participating in the testing phase once the new "Super Duct Tape" is ready for testing. Military experience, with at least 100 high altitude jumps, including significant free-fall time, is a plus, but not required.

It is not currently known if Home Depot will renew their sponsorship beyond the 2005 season should attempts to brand storms with their logo fail. Wall Street analysts were condident that should Home Depot pull out after this season, Lowes was a good bet to fill the void.
