I wish they could launch a lot of weather baloons in front of and around the storm to get a better look of whats happening.

They can do even better.

They fly over dropping tons of little "dropsondes" that report conditions back as they fall to the surface.

I've always wondered, I'm guessing they sink, I wonder how many are on the Carrib and GOM floor? I wonder if they keep count how many they've dropped

They just send someone out in a SpongeBob submarine cart with a cage on it, kinda like those golfball picker carts, to cruise around the ocean floor and pick 'em up. I hear they get 10 cents for every one they bring back. :wink:

so much more practical that is


When a storm appoaches land why not launch more weather balloons at strategic locations. I got this impression that weather balloons have some advatages for measurements because it represents a rising parcel of air.
