I wouldn't be surprised to see the official track call for landfall somewhere from Gulfport to Pascagoula at the 11 pm advisory today.

WISH-CASTER!!@#!@#

You're probably right. They'll likely have it at Ocean Springs or so.

It's an uncomfortable feeling, isn't it?

We're over due for a major in the New Orleans "vicinity", and this
one might finally be "it"

MS/AL/FL - none of these options makes me comfortable. I don't think I'll breathe a sigh of relief until it shifts west of New Orleans. Heck - we got more bad weather here today with Cindy hitting Louisiana than we did with a direct hit from Arlene. Being in the right front quadrant of anything is bad news.

I was surprised the 5pm track wasn't closer to MS. I'm suspecting if the models don't change it'll be into SE LA in the morning.

Quite possibly the storm is going to go further west then the tracks are showing... which is good news for last years Ivan's hard hit areas. However, have you seen the size of Dennis? Alot of places are going to be affected no matter where it makes landfall..

Yeah, I know. The line is a psychological "safety blanket" type of thing for me--even though I know the cone is the important part.

Too quickly do folks forget that a hurricane is not a spot, but a swath
across a large area.

I hear ya CFL, when I got home from work today my "storm door" was laying on the ground. It had come open somehow and was ripped from the hinges.

It doesn't take long to evacuate if people who don't need to evacuate stay home.

I could have been more harsh and said that your statement is extremely foolish. So: your statement is extremely foolish.

Bottom Line, Don't put up the shutters, don't go buy all the days' supplies of food and water, and don't pack up your bags in case you are evacuated, but begin preparing that plan to do those things, that way it won't be last minute and panic-induced when the storm a day away.

Have your plan in place and ready to put in action, but don't put into action yet, probably until watches are issued.

You may want to get a head start on buying a few critical supplies before the rush, that may be the smart thing to do. If Dennis misses, you'll have it for the next one.
