An unknown group "in the name of Al Qaida" has claimed responsibility for the bombings; meanwhile, there is a report that one double-decker bus may have had a suicide bomber on board in the upper deck. This just stated on FoxNews within the last few minutes.

AQ would seem to be the front runner for this attack but I wouldn't rule out Hezbollah. The bus doesn't look like a bomb was planted, it looks more like a suicide bomber. Until we get some more pictures or reports from below I can't say for sure. I would lean more to sack bombs like the spain attack from the early reports. One train sounds like it was not in the station when it blew but not sure if the others were in stations. I don't think our subway would be a target today but security will be stepped up as a precaution.

Al Arabia reports that a "ji'had group of Al Qaida" has claimed responsibility for the London bombings...this was also reported earlier by Italian press sources. :larrow:

More, ALL of the G-8 leaders came on screen to collectively announce unity in the face of these attacks. Tony Blair spoke for the group, with President Bush to his right, Jacques Chirac and Vladimir Putin to his left; and is leaving the summit for London at this writing.

I noted that, unlike IRA bombings, these were specifically planned to kill innocent people and disrupt a major city's infrastructure...three of the explosions were centered within the financial district.

This looks, feels and smells like Al Qaida, IMHO. :larrow:

The scenes we are seeing from London bring the shock and utter despair we all felt about 9/11 back, in an instant. Please keep updates coming, since here at our home we only have CNN. I've heard FOX has up to the minute reports coming in.

My daughter Nina was just in London, in early June, with a school group. That was my immediate, selfish thought - I am so glad her trip was a few weeks ago. Next thought - the poor victims and their families. Very next thought - determining when my next door neighbors 20 year old daughter is due to leave for her 3 week long England trip - her brother said she's due to leave today, flying into London! Her parents left for Prog yesterday and they plan to meet up with her and a friend in London, in 5 days. Her parents were born and raised in England so the news is hitting that family hard today. They have all sorts of relatives over there.

The terrorists claiming responsibility for this have said this:

"Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters."

:grr: I think people who are cowardly enough to inflict this kind of thing on innocent people are the very last individuals who should be going on about fear. What they have done is nothing short of despicable, and the fact that they have opted to do something like this shows what cowards they are.

The liberals of the world, with their talk of appeasement, now have killed several Londoners and injured hundreds more. I hope they are pleased with themselves.

Saddened as the G8 seems to represent opportunity...and with Tony Blair's efforts to divert focus to Africa and other "priorities" rather than the war in Iraq and war on terror, the timing is no surprise.

Terrorists want to be sure that they are not seen as "diminishing or insignificant" threats...and from what we are seeing and hearing, they are making that point.

They had no way of knowing whether London was going to be chosen. This took months of planning.

G8 is likely motive here.

Watch the conservatives exploit these attacks to support their agendas.

I know Mary... my heart goes out to London... but we have a school group there... small... about 10 people or so. I hope and pray that they are okay. But the thing is that my sister was supposed to have been going with them, but a drain on funds nixed her opportunity. I am so happy she is safe at home, but I pray that everyone else from our school is safe. My prayers go out to all of London, England, and the rest of the world.

On Tuesday, the DART Light Rail switch station near the 8th & Corinth Station in Dallas was vandalized. Luckily, no explosions took place.

Death toll reportedly up to at least 40 now. This is absolutely horrendous.

We can go back and forth about who's right and who's wrong, but this kind of behavior is reprehensible and the perpetrators need to be called to account!!!!

I agree it is horrible and my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims' families. This could very well have been my daughter, her classmates and teachers. They rode the subway alot while in London. We are so very, very sad today.
