Survivor Guatemala Premieres Sept. 15th
Moderator: S2k Moderators
If I were a new contestant my opinion would be that Stephanie and Bobby Jon have a clear advantage over me. They've been thru it and both were very strong competitors. So on one hand you'd be a fool not to listen to their advice and use their past knowledge to help your tribe. But on the other, like Jeff said last night, they could be voted out early on, b/c of the continued threat they'll be.
What was it that BJ said - Palau was recess and Guatemala is the real thing, real school, etc.? Forget how he said it exactly.
When BJ's eyes rolled back, oh my.....I was really worried about him.
I wish they'd kick off the season with a 2 hour opener. It seemed like one minute they were hiking that 11 mile walk/trek and the next Bush was walking up to the podium, ready to speak!

Survivor: Guatemala
Survivor is in Guatemala, and the big twist is that two popular players are back for a second shot... and they are Stephenie and Bobby Jon from the losing Ulong tribe on Survivor: Palau. While Jeff Probst gives them a lot of credit, calling Bobby one of the hardest-working players ever, and Stephenie one of the toughest women, I think that from the outset, these two are at a disadvantage yet again. That fear is only slightly boosted when, after a 24-hour, 11-mile trek through the jungle, Bobby is dehydrated and his eyes are rolling back in his head — creepy. But he's not even the most laid-up person on his new tribe, Nakum, which I can only assume is ancient Mayan for "injured," "unlucky" or "filled with weak men." One day into the game and Jim is vomiting and has torn a muscle in his arm; Bobby's got the eyeball thing going on; Blake has been hit by what looked like a porcupine stick and can't move his shoulder; and even Judd is vomiting and suffering from the condition Brandon called "premature evacuation" after he tried to get out of their canoe too early. Almost all the males are down, and thankfully nurse Margaret is there to help, but the whole situation seems kind of funny because Danni was psyched that they got Bobby over Steph, because everyone knows that "a man is just stronger than a woman." Clearly she missed Steph's rockin' performance in Palau. It looks like Danni's going to get a little taste of Steph's skills here as the strongwoman has already found herself on a team that has won more challenges than her last one. I thought it was so nice that several of Steph's female Yaxha cohorts told her that she was an inspiration to them to go on the show. Not that they won't cut her out of the tribe as soon as they get the opportunity, but they like her all the same. And I really hope sweet Steph doesn't trust that scheming Gary, who is already planning to lie about his background and name. Well Yaxha won the immunity challenge and got a goodbye from tribal council, so they'll have a few more days before the aligning and backstabbing begin. But the ailing Nakum clan sent home Jim, who is the most incapacitated by injury. I think Bobby dodged a bullet on that one. And can I just say that Jeff so didn't lie to me when he said this might be the toughest Survivor yet? These players have no supplies, already hiked through a rugged terrain, braved a night in the dark wilderness and rowed their boats ashore, and it doesn't look like the hardships are going to let up any time soon. Gotta love that. — Angel Cohn

Rob and Amber....ugh - there would have been protests had they returned!
I'm glad Morgan is gone too. She never saw that coming! I like Lydia too, she works! No loafing for that lady..... Laughed at Steph's comment about Bobby Jon - he's all serious and work. Something like that. He is serious! And I had to also laugh at one of her male tribemates - Steph's not like a girl. She's like a guy! Too funny.....but she is a fierce competitor and if they were going to bring back one former female contestant, she deserves this chance.
I don't know what to think of Blake. The one with breathing problems. Now Margaret is a nurse and you'd think she'd make this connection - he was the one that had several sharp needles in his shoulder, from that bark, correct? Right away he was sick from them. I think it is still in his system and when you have an allergic reaction, your throat closes up. I really expected to see him leave last night, on his way to the hospital! But then he was great at challenges.
Bobby Jon still a mess. Shocked at that!
Soooo, were they eating ants that were alive? If so, ewwwww......

yea i think they were eating live ants....pretty gross huh? that one guy Rafe is a wilderness guide so i guess he know those things....but he sucked at the reward challenge....
......and i think Lydia deserved to stay.....Morgan did nothing in camp....and Lydia made a little inlet to catch fish when the tide went out........they eat the minnows and Lydia said "tastes just like grilled trout" he he

We dubbed Morgan Barbie from the beginning. She seemed to live up to that nickname last night! The look on her face as her name kept being read, was priceless. Maybe it was dawning on her she should have been more helpful. That was smart what Lydia did - catching minnows that way. Good idea. What is a fish monger? We didn't understand what her exact profession was...
Had to laugh at Gary still denying he was a former NFL quarterback. I remember when a past contestant didn't want to reveal he was a lawyer, saying he was a Mailman. Was that Williard? Forget now....
Wonder how many times contestants have lied about their true professions? Just curious....
Guess I don't understand why being a former NFL player would hurt your chances? That's a physical sport and anyone who played, would understand this is a demanding competition? Not some crybaby. Is he worried he'll be perceived as a major threat? I might have just answered my own question.......

Mary,
I had wondered last night what a fishmonger is too...
Looked it up a few minutes ago and it says...
fishwife; someone who sells fish
Now the term fishwife...sounds about as strange a term as midwife.

Survivor
So I get why Gary is lying about his NFL background. Presumably people would see him as a threat because he's an athlete, and think that he might not need the cash because a quarterback would probably bring in a decent chunk of change. I totally thought the jig was up when Danni — a sportscaster — recognized him, but he just kept lying. Good strategy; I just hope that sweet Stephenie isn't gullible enough to fall for that trick. At least she got to stick around for another few days since the Yaxhas realized that, even though she's strong, they kind of need her around. Poor Morgan wasn't even around long enough to make an impression. She looked utterly shocked when her tribe decided to send her packing. So much for that whole unity thing. Meanwhile the Nakum crew is still suffering from all sorts of ailments, but they took home both the reward and immunity challenges. These challenges are tough this season. For some fishing equipment they had to run, climb a hanging rope web, untie a bag and then swim back. Phew. I was tired just watching them. Those wicked, creative minds at Survivor also decided to come up with a combo of mud wrestling, tug-of-war and capture the flag. They all got down and dirty, but the brute strength of Judd took home the prize. He was one of the few people Brandon didn't have to encourage to "man up." It should be interesting to see what happens next. — Angel Cohn

So you guys know if the pond they did the challange in last night was man made? My mom was saying something to that effect. She said because of all the crocs. I'm thinking if their is water the crocs will come. In Florida here there is a gator in EVERY lake, river, and even in the ocean, even if you dont see them they are there. So I'm wondering if they made the pond specifically for challanges, maybe they have a croc crew watching to make sure the pond stays free of crocs. Are the bodies of water around all salt? Or are some inland waters fresh? I know fresh water crocs are alot less aggresive than the salties. I guess what I'm saying is, is the crocs fresh water or salties? Would'nt matter much to me I don't want to swim with none of them, but was just curious.

Never thought of that before. This means they are making changes to the landscape though. Didn't someone here wonder if they would? Since it's such a beautiful place......if they did, that's a shame. But if they did for safety purposes, well, I guess they had to.

Missed last night's episode...question is...did I miss MUCH? Anyway, was out with my folks car shopping late yesterday afternoon through early last night, ate out supper and got home around 9 pm ET. I'm looking for a used Toyota Camry preferably.
Looked at and have had one test drive so far in Cary, NC (near Raleigh) and then looked at and test drove another used Toyota Camry and a used Nissan Altima at Cary Auto Sales...will be out and about looking at some more cars today.

Well the tribe Steph is on they lost the reward challenge and the immunity challenge........and they voted off Brianna....both challenges were very close........i feel sorry for poor Steph she seems to be on a losing tribe again
...Gary's football fame still hasnt been figured out and Bobby Johns team seems to be the more atlethic one.....they won blankets and a tarp and rope for a shelter....and then heat was so bad on all of them 114 degrees when they were doing the immunity challenge.....whew!!!!

Not really. To add to what arkess said, Margaret on Nakum was getting on everyone's nerves when she got bossy about rebuilding the shelter(they got tarps, blankets, and pillows for the reward). Oh and Amy twisted her ankle/foot or something during the immunity challenge.

Survivor: Guatemala — The Maya Empire[New]
8 pm/ET, CBS
Tonight's episode promises to be pivotal as the two tribes meet and find out that they are being switched around. I sure hope that Danni (that cute Kansas City Chiefs fan) gets put on Gary Hogeboom's team so she can lower the boom and out the ex-Dallas Cowboys quarterback (never did like the Cowboys, anyway). There also may be a major betrayal at tribal council. Count me in! — Tim Holland

Potential spoiler ahead
I have heard that Gary and Danni get in an alliance together... it's all rumors though.
