I'm glad you and the kids are being smart. I can't believe you would be rude to your husband ;-)

Well, we tried to leave but just couldn't take it. We left the house in Sugar Land at 6:45 this morning heading west. Took 30 minutes to get gas on the corner. Drove about 4 miles down Hwy 90A just past Hwy 99 going west in 2 hours (and I was in my son's car with a manual transmission). We turned around and made it home in 7 minutes. We'll stay.......

I'll be riding it out in Fannett, TX, which is located west of Beaumont, between Beaumont and Winnie. Job required I stay until just about now, too late to evac.

I have dial up and Verizon Cell card for my laptop. Will post conditions when able. I have a new portable anemometer with barometric, etc. Not sure if the cell card will work when the wind picks up, but I'll try.

Gonna be a long day/night.

Checking in before things go downhill....I am riding it out with my neighbor's family in Olympia Estates (?) in Missouri City. Its a big house, we are boarded up and have every supply we can think of .... and now its lookin more and more like it won't be so bad after all. I'm so glad I didn't try to drive further ... I feel awful for all the people who are stuck on the road. :(

Hang in there, peeps!

I'm still in Lafayette. Got voted down about leaving. It's been raining, windy and gusty. Lights have flickered but stayed on. Good luck to those who are west of me.

Still have power in Spring. Wind has finally accelerated more in last 30 minutes. Light rain/sprinkles but nothing heavy yet.

Edited 11:57 PM CDT: May lose power at any time. WInds increasing and some "thumps" on the roof.

Winds increasing and rain is light but steady. Winds sustained around 25-30 with gusts around 45 mph would be my guess in Spring Branch(W Houston). Can hear and see the transformers going all over the area so who knows how long we will have power.

Here in Pasadena, lost power for a couple of hours, and its now back one. No reports of storm damage yet, one fire from transformer, nonresidential not anyone there. I just drove our neighbor hood, no damage, no imbs down, a few items displaced, but nothing more than a winter sqwal line. I dont think our friends out east to beaumont were as lucky.

But, we are all good. Glad we didnt evac. Hope this morning brings reports of only minor damage to Hou/Gal area.

People in Monroe are concerned about flooding as this may sit for several days. Its has been torrential rain for the last 3 hrs and no end in sight. We are east of Shreveport.(Heading to buy a sump pump now for a low driveway by the side door. I knew I should have filled that in during the summer  )

Lots of limbs down here in W. Houston. Some fences down. Haven't done an area survey yet. Winds still gusting to 45 mph, but no rain. Houston area with the exception of a few areas on the East side of the metro area dodged a huge bullet. The vbhoutex family is fine and no known damage except for limbs down.

We made it OK here near The Woodlands. Amazingly we have power!! From about 2AM-5AM saw at least 50 transformers blow up (flashes). Mostly just branches down, etc. No trees down in my lot. More later.

Most reports from Houston Galveston (other than Yaga's wall) seems to be limited to tree limbs, fences, and power lines. I havent heard of any reports of structural damage, roof damage, or flooding in our area.

FYI your fence probably will not be covered by your homeowners insurance. They are usually depreciated and dont exceed deductibles.

we're here in beautiful Sharpstown. lots of branches down, a tree down next door. it barely missed my car. after being without power for almost 3 hours yesterday afternoon, we didn't lose power at all through the brunt of the storm!

Glad to see it was less then predicted for houston! I do hear there are lots of windows blown out of the JP Morgan Chase building downtown.
