Yes, I used to visit the MS coast all the time and spend a weekend at the casinos. The MS coast is only a 2 hour drive from my home. Sure, there are casinos here in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and in Baldwin, Louisiana. But, I always preferred the ones on the MS coast. My ex-best friend and I used to stay at Imperial Palace for free. She was in the Players Club. My favorite was the Grand Casino in Gulfport. We also stayed there for free. I love eating at the Marketplace buffet. The food was good and had every kind you could think of. You would always leave with a belly ache from eating too much. I won $400 at the Grand Casino one night. The most I ever won in one pot. And I think I only put $20 on the nickel machine. Once I only put $1 in the nickel machine and won $50. Hit 1000 nickels on my first try. My grandparents used to live in Long Beach, MS last year. (They just recently moved to Picayune.) But, when they were living in Long Beach, I would stay with them for a long weekend. I stayed 4th of July weekend the summer before last and we went to Grand. My grandparents lived in almost walking distance from the Grand Casino in Gulfport. I have not been to a casino in over a year. I prefer to save my money now.
Bring tears to my eyes as I am typing this. This is all gone now thank to Hurricane Katrina. Now all I have is the memories of the MS coast. Some of my best times were spent on the MS coast. It is just truly heartbreaking.
How many here visit a casino?

Well, when I go down to visit my Mom in Weirton, West (by God) Virginia, I see the street lined with "Cafes". They turn homes into small gambling sites. (maybe 5 or 6 slot machines) I've been to both the dog and horse track in West Virginia. I've been to Vegas and Atlantic City and have gambled on cruise ships and in Aruba. I'VE NEVER WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do I know casino's! LOL... My husband is in the business, therefore we are exposed quite alot...and tend to play a little locally...take about a trip a month to Vegas, and have played all over the country. We're not big players, have never won big either...we play for entertainment value...keep it small, and have fun with it!
And for you folks that love the casino buffet's...hubby always comps ours...its a nice perk!

For those of you in Central Florida, Port Canaveral has two casino ships that go out twice a day. I go out on the smaller one about once every three months and only play $5 blackjack. Their rules are very good (comparable to Downtown Vegas), the dealers are friendly, and the drinks and munchies are free! I usually break even, but sometimes I win. I've never lost more than $40 in a night, and that is less than it costs me on a normal night out elsewhere, so I've never felt guilty.

I love Boomtown casino in Marrero and when I kived there went about once a month.
Since I moved to tne MS Gulf Coast have been to the Palace casion and the President several times. I was ahead of the Palace by a couple of hundred before the storm nearly sunk her.
I hope they get them going here again soon. I really miss going.
