Katrina isnt person of the year just because it was a disaster. Katrina uncovered flaws, in society, gov't and more. there were political backlashes, panic, and the eye-opening of an entire nation, sorry to say, but one that began to assume a mindet of being 'untouchable'.
Katrina wasnt just a natural disaster. Katrina didnt just kill people. She went way beyond that.
Agree with you 100%. Katrina uncovered flaws in our evacuation, planning, and levee systems. She also uncovered corruption and ignorance in government of local, state and federal levels. Still, to this day, she has left many without a home to go back to. Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines and Lower Jefferson Parish, along with much of Coastal Mississippi are still ghost towns. Because of Katrina and the investigations going in to the handling of this storm, hopefully we will better learn how to handle the next one.
