Because of the cooling SST's I'v droped my forecast to 18/10/6.

Actually sstas jumped upward from december to january

but we have to see if this continues in order to make any
definitive predictions imo

Here are my prediction numbers for 2006 so far...

16 named storms
9 hurricanes
6 major hurricanes

16/9/6

Out of the storms that form, I think five will be Cape Verde systems.

Only a few days left for this poll to start running.Haved you made your mind already about what numbers the 2006 season will have in terms of number of named storms, number of hurricanes and number of major hurricanes? All can participate from the most experts,Pro Mets,Amateours and those who many not know a lot about tropical weather. This poll will run from March 15 thru May 31 and the time to close it will be at midnight EDT.So get ready folks and participate in this poll and let's see how many members get the most close in the numbers to what the season will have.Last year a total of 118 members participated.Let's see if this 2006 poll surpasses by much that number.

Last years members who were the most close were:

Marcus= (19/11/6) Valkhorn=(17/10/7) and wayne56=(18/10/7)

I'm starting to get an idea.... right now I'm thinking between 15-16 Named Storms, 8-9 Hurricanes, and 4-5 Major Hurricanes. Like previous years though, my final pre-season forecast (and the one I will use for this contest) will not come out until the end of May as I will be one of the very last people entered into the contest.

I've decided to lower the number of major hurricanes in my numbers now; otherwise, they stay the same as previously.

Here are my new numbers...

16 named storms
9 hurricanes
5 major hurricanes

16/9/5

That's ok Doc.

I forgot to say that you can post preliminary numbers in the poll by letting me know typing (preliminary numbers) and changing them to final numbers later or you can post your numbers close to the end of the date of the poll so that's your choice.

If you want to change them again you can post these ones at the poll and say preliminary numbers and later you can post your final numbers.

By the way only 7 days left for the poll to be up.

Some unrealistic numbers im seeing IMO. I am expecting a similar amount of majors to 04 and 05, but more 04 numbers total.

I'v down graded to a 1998/1999 like hurricane season with 16 named storms/6-7 hurricanes. 2-3 maj hurricanes. Stronger Cape verde season.
