ST PATRICK'S DAY ORIGINS

St Patrick's Day originally started out as a day of mourning the death of patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick, who died on March 17, around 460 A.D.

St Patrick was born in WALES to wealthy parents around 385 A.D. When he was 16, he was kidnapped by a group of Irish raiders and taken to Ireland. During this time, he worked as a shepherd, and in loneliness, he developed a strong faith in God.

After his escape 6 years later, he went to Gaul and studied in a monstery for many years. After his ordination as a priest, Patrick returned to Ireland where he converted thousands to the Christian faith.

THE LEGEND OF THE LEPRECHAUN

A leprechaun is a small, ugly old man about 60 centimeters tall. There are VERY unfriendly, live by themselves and pass the time making shoes. Leprechauns possess a hidden pot of gold. Treasure hunters track them down by listening for the sound of his shoemaker's hammer.

Once caught, a leprechaun can be forced to reveal where he has hidden his gold, but if you look away from him (and he will try to trick you to do so), he will disappear with his secret.

HAPPY ST.PATRICKS DAY! I'll be getting ready to pinch people who aren't wearing green. What fun will that be. I hope I'll find a 4-leaf clover today but I always find the thing in my avatar.

I haven't decided what I'll drink that's green. I don't like beer. Do you think they can put some green food coloring in my chardonnay?? Or maybe I'll just try every green drink they have!!!!!!! Definitely a party night. Drive safely everyone.
