That could be the first Cape Verde storm of 2006! Its position would likely make it a mid-Atlantic fishie though...

I'd almost be ready to declare 99L.Invest on that one...I think it is the best Cape Verde wave I have seen in a long time! I'd give it a 40% chance of development - far more than the Lesser Antilles wave (10%).

A week ago I saw one that looked very powerful. It had banding and everything. It went poof after a while.

How about this time, we wait to see how long these waves will last before getting excited. A lot waves this season looked good when they first emerged, but all of them soon died out. I won't be impressed until these waves maintain convection for a while.

Conditions are better for this wave than the other waves this year. The shear is lower the SSTs should be warming up and there is a moisture field ahead of this wave. So yes I think out of all the other waves this one has the best chance.

I know some may think I'm a meanie for saying this, so I will ask nicely :)

Can we please PLEASE pretty please with a cherry-on-top do away with the cryptic "teaser" non-descriptive topic titles - where the rest of the title is in the actual first post - could we possibly please please do away with this practice??

It'd be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!!

I don't really see much of a problem with that. People can title a thread whatever they want to.

I just don't see how I'm asking for something that's hard to do.

All I'm saying is instead of titling a thread with half a thought and .........

why not just finish the thought like everyone else? It's really not a hard thing to do. All one has to do is type "from Africa" in the title instead of a bunch of periods. And it makes weeding through topics on a busy day at work much easier for our users.

The dust is pretty strong still but there is a small window of opportunity for this wave if can remain on a W to WSW course below the SAL. Here is the latest SAL update:

http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tropic/real- ... split.html

This wave will probably be eroded over the next 1-2 days so I don't expect much from it. But I do see that currently, the SAL has lifted out northward a tad and has left a path with some more moisture along 10N.

Earlier this season, I saw a couple of much better looking waves go poof. It's going to take a bit of faith for me to believe anything significant is going to come out of this one.

Then again, as has been stated, it's getting nearer to August. So it might surprise me!

I wouldn't be surprised to see this one develop, after all it's nearly August and something's gotta give eventually.

Cloud tops have been warming in the northern portion, however the southern extent still has convection.

Hopefully we can get something out of it. But I don't see anything out of it as of yet. Give it another 12 hours then we will see if it holds together!!!

I been looking at some stuff that show that the Gulf coast should be under water with in the next 100 years. Look at Southeast LA...Hurricanes will just speed it up a little. I'm sorry in I do feel bad but it would be best to look ahead.
