And I'd like to inform everyone of a point you made in your update today.... We are actually ahead of 2004 at this point. That year, we had enough to track. This slow start means nothing. It will ramp up.

You should all do yourselves a favor and watch Mike's update from today... well, yesterday. He pointed out an almost identical pattern in '04 at about this same time of year. Even the troughs, ridges and disturbances were in about the same places. Overall, the lesson learned in yesterday's update is that today's lack of activity is NO indication of future activity. All should watch it.

Agreed. Slow season?

How soon people forget, that at this same time -- Aug 11 -- in that now infamous "active" year of 2004, we were in the early stages of dealing with "only" our third named system...a budding tropical storm in the Caribbean, tagged "Charley".
