The final and official magnitude of this quake was 8.3 on the ricther scale.But thankfully the epicenter was at a sparse populated area.Imagine if this epicenter would haved occured in the center of Tokyo.

Its over. The biggest wave measured was 16 inches. Big dealio :roll:

Five Foot Tsunami report in Cresent City, CA. Two docks were destroyed:

Thank goodness it hit in a sparsely populated area.

Whenever I hear about an earthquake in Japan, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Kobe Earthquake of 1995.

Crescent City, CA was heavily damaged by tsunamis caused by a quake in Alaska in the 1960's. There's a book out called "The Raging Sea" that I bought just after last year's Indonesian tsunamis.

Edit: It occured in 1964 and 11 people died.
