Many choose to work on holidays. I don't know if the retail stores pay time & a half or double for those working holidays. Don't forget that there's those who have to work on holidays...such as medical field and oilfield. Our bookkeepers husband left today to fly to africa to his job where he'll be there 28 days. He used to work 7 & 7 so if you had to work a holiday, you had to work a holiday.

Chances are they have plenty of volunteers so that nobody is forced to work that doesn't want to on the holidays. Those who choose to work on the big holidays for big chains generally get paid time and a half plus holiday pay and are given extra vacation time.
