My entire family in the states will get together in the house of my mom's cousin. There's three houses, so every year one house is for Thanksgiving, another house for Noche Buena (Christmas's Eve), and seven days later, another house for New Year's Eve!!!

In Thanksgiving the food is always Cuban food and you throw a turkey to remember that you're celebrating Thanksgiving. I usually don't eat turkey (except for Thanksgiving) because the meat is kind of dry, not like pork or beef.

I really enjoy Thanksgiving because it serves the purpose of having the entire family together, saying thanks for the good things in life, and enjoying that moment. It's a great holiday.

From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

I only made brownies tonight and Marty picked up the pies.

Dinner menu;

Turkey - 18 lbs
Gravy
Stuffing
Corn
Broccoli with cheese
Mashed Potatoes
Mrs. Paul's frozen candied yams
Pillsbury biscuits & butter
Cranberry sauce.

We're not eating until 4:30. Most of the stuff I'm making is easy. We're having Marty's sons, our new daughter in law and her son, Alex.

Dionne - prayers are being sent your way, this Thanksgiving.

About mid morning I got this call from a realtor that we had recently flipped a home with.....the sewer line was plugged.

Imagine being in your new home for the first Thanksgiving and the sewer line stops draining. Bummer.

So, I loaded up and went over to see what I could do......several hours later, I had it cleared. Everybody was happy.

Got back home to discover a cardboard box sitting in front of the carport door. Inside it contained turkey, dressing, corn, rolls, a can of cranberry sauce and an apple pie.

We have never had anything like this happen to us before. We were stunned. We both cried. I know we're on alot of prayer lists......but we never expected anyone to bring us a Turkey day meal!

Some how I'm going to pass this on......

PLURGH--you asked about the pineapple junk--no marshmallows
PINEAPPLE JUNK
1 cup Sugar
¾ stick Butter, melted
3 Eggs
½ cup Milk
4 slices Bread – Toasted and cubed
1 can Pineapple – crushed – retain juice.
Beat the eggs, add sugar, milk, butter, pineapple, and bread cubes. Pour into buttered casserole dish. Bake at 350 about 45 min. or until nicely brown. Great hot or cold.

SWEETPEA-- Apples with Red Hots--couldn't be easier.
CINNAMON APPLES
6 – 8 Apples, cooking type
½ - ¾ bag Cinnamon Red Hot Candies
2 Tbl Butter (optional)
Glug of Lemon juice
1/4 water
Peel and cut apples into medium to large chunks. Add lemon juice and stir. Melt butter in a heavy frying pan and add the apples and water. Cook a few minutes until apples begin to soften. Stir in Red Hots. Lower heat. Cook on simmer until apples are done. I eliminate the butter so the apples are good either hot or cold. I like both ways depending on what I'm serving it with.

At my age I believe in easy but good. Both of the above can be made in advance and either reheated or served cold. Enjoy!
