nice website southernwx, if your forecast pans out i'll be getting hurricane force winds, with some storm surge here on west coast of fla with s winds and then ssw winds also bad for tpa, but not as bad as a west coast falling storm

thanks for the forecast.... I'm wondering if the speed of Frances (around landfall) will be fast or slow? and do people think Frances will get any bigger in size over the forecast period? I haven't seen anything about the size of Francis...
Image Floyd and Andrew comparison

I would think that a slow mover would devastate an area more then a fast mover--although a fast mover might keep the pressure and intensity down and move back out into the gulf and make another run at the gulf coast...

Appreciate that you put your forecast, the distances between the storm and the various islands.

Nobody seems to do this, and I always wondered why not. After all, what use is reading that, for example, tropical storm force winds extend out to 150 miles when you haven't a clue from a map whether the forecast track is 100 or 200 miles from any island it passes?

Depends. We're not real prone to Flooding as much as other states. Allthough we do have our problems with rivers and the like. Florida is sandy and drains well. I would thinks a fast mover would be worse with its storm surge and and the ability to maintain some maximum winds all the way across the state.

Frances' outer bands will start to impact....

#2065 Postby Anonymous » Sun Aug 29, 2004 9:25 pm

...the Leeward islands within 36 hours, on her current path.

It is going to be very interesting, what the NHC projects in their next 2 advisories, as Frances now appears to be picking up speed, and a more direct heading, along with some possible intensification cycle, based on the latest infrared satellite images/loops.

There will be some major decision making for the emergency planners in the days to come.

to visit my Uncle John in Key West, Fl. He moved there from Nashville, just two weeks before Charley came through, she thought she would check on him. Anyone got recommendations for a great restaraunt for her to eat at while visiting, Florida.

Oh my gosh, they didn't, did they?

It is a little early to sound so confident if they did.

Yep...Foxnews says it will be "right" of its current track.

Sorry...a little Conservative humor there.

I was thinking today that the media needed to alert the public of the possibity of a strong weather system along the east coast with the holiday weekend coming. People can make changes to their plans, etc.

You are right about the latest IR images. That is the deepest convection Frances has had in a while.

Martha's is one of my favorite restaurants when I visit there. It's located on the SE side of Key West adjoining Bennihana's. They have great fresh seafood and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Don't forget to get a piece of Key Lime Pie for dessert! :D

That makes me feel much better than what the original post implied.

I was simply writing what I saw on the screen. Striking Florida was what was being reported by Jeraldo and how much devastation all the debris from Charlie could cause.

Big EZ, what do you mean when you say "a more direct heading?" I'm trying to learn all of the lingo here and I was curious.
