having been thru patricia in barra de navidad, i wish this beast on no one... intensifying cat 5 canes are something amazing.. the eye lasted 10 min only and was just enough time to empty my bilges before more excitement with even stronger winds--the 215 mph winds were after eye passed.,,most of the the destruction was after eye passed. tracking a storm until it hits ye is a weird feeling. especially knowing the strength of the issue. there was not a roof left on more than half the homes in colimilla and the church disappeared as did the large heavy antique bell it sported. vanished without a trace.
this is horrible for mosquito coast. i hope all lives make it through ok. it is a good thing the eye is tiny. the gawdawful damages will not be as bad as if it were a larger area storm. that was the blessing of patricia as well.

8.4 Raw T. Regardless of actual intensity, still a wild achievement there.

No matter what, this is a nightmare scenario for Central America. It doesn't change the threat level there much, especially considering the rainfall threat. Whether winds were 100 mph or 200 mph, they would only affect a small area - and the rain and mudslide threat is extremely high.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Good call by NHC imo... Nothing supports a 5 yet but it almost certainly will be one very soon

NHC comments that an EWRC is probably starting in their Discussion from the new Advisory.

Eye temperature continues to skyrocket. Not done yet at all.

Colors of lost purpose on the canvas of irrelevance

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.
