remember that this is a developing tropical storm so the center point is not as clear cut as a well defined hurricane.

looks pretty impressive on that sat image


still doesn't look anymore impressive on the floater though. The NHC seems to think it won't do anything at all short-term, we'll just have to see.

But, its also .5 W of the position it was forecasted.


No its .5 east of the position...

Kinda shocked me that Chris is now brought down to 60 mph, but he still has alot more time to make it up.

It's just a possiblity Mempho. One that is not brought up because of the hysteria we are seeing...

Barrier islands don't handle hurricanes well...;)

take a look at the last 2 frames of the floater. I wonder if that's just a temporary jog. Guess we'll know when a couple of more frames come out.

As much as we all wish we could, trying to pick a spot on the gulf coast where Chris will hit is just a crap shoot at this point. The storm hasn't even passed Puerto Rico yet!!! It's going to be an agonizing wait until this weekend when we get a better idea of where it's going. The Mexican scenario is a definite possibility however I think there's greater odds of Chris hitting the US whether it be south Florida or along the gulf coast.

It's quite amazing how much more speculation and concern goes along with these storms now than say 5 years ago. We can certainly thank the past two years for making all of us a little jumpy, but there's still plenty of time to figure out where he's going so everyone take a deep breath.

WNW would be 2W and 1N, .4N and .3W is actually North of NW...

what if he decides to finish what Katrina left which would be almost nothing.even more he might just be a thorn in the side of gulf coast residents just to agonize the clean up

Yep. Just a bit north of WNW. But according to another post from 11-5 it has shown much more westerly so I guess it balanes out..

There is no way in hell that Chris will make it above 25 N until hes in the GOM.

you are probably right about it just being a jog. Sometimes my eyes start to play tricks on me when I look at these storms too long, lol. Oh well, back to work
