How much of that is sleet contaminated?

Based on the "look" I would guess taht bottom "finger" area from the southwest to northeast will have a lot of sleet. Probably WF on up more snow. But, nothing scientific here.

Not sure the source but Kuchera method would be snow, since it's designed to cut out the other stuff. But I do notice kuchera ratios can be very high sometimes however it does work well in very deep cold set ups. Not every source is the same though as they have different algorithms for snow/ice/frz rain etc.

18z GFS AI looks like it has a couple of waves of cold, forst one initially with the storm system on the 25th or so, and then a much more potent cold blast behind that system

I believe we have a Portastorm sighting. When the Grey Goose trucks start to load, Texas will be in business.

Look a that screaming subtropical jet from the EPAC on 18z GFS. Thing of beauty. Being southwest of Big dome highs can be impressive. 1985 SA, 1964 DFW etc.

Yeah crippling sleet/ice storm deep into Texas on this run. All the way down to Interstate 10 and even points south.

Pivotal Weather's precip type maps suggests it's mostly ice for North Texas

Yeah that would have a significant societal impact!

Some of you know that in my day job I’m involved with state emergency management planning/response. Going to be an interesting week at work.

Agreed my friend. Austin has had their share of that mess a few years back. Definitely not a run the two metros want to verify at all.

Any chance the cold air won’t be that shallow?
