A question for Air Force Met. Not saying it will but if Frances got in the Gulf, will she be influenced by the trough coming down out of the Rockies come this weekend or at the beginning of next week?

She's going to be influenced by a trough the develops b/w the ridge over the east and one over the west. The trof develops in TX and then expands eastward as another trough coming thru the pac NW moves east and combined they erode the high. The whole process begins Thursday...and they link up by Saturday. The trough to the north passes Frances by but leaves a piece behind to turn her.

If I'm reading his mind (AFM) right now it's thinking about a Gilbert track...with a little translation from Spanish to English...Accuweather thought a piece would do too..he's just not wanting to be a homer

I think is was the morning that someone posted the Canada model with a another high somewhere around Montana...This was the model showing coming thru the Fl straits and into the Gulf...Still looks fairly unlikely though...

Thanks....but I'm a guy. :-) I actually was thinking further north last week...guess it was Tuesday or WEdnesday...can't remember. My low point was Titusville up to the SC/GA border...with Jax at the center...even though that is almost impossible to hit from the SE. I didn't start working south to Florida until late week. BUt...I never thought s.fl was out of it by a long shot. My big beef was against those who were saying Florida was safe...or who were calling for a fish. Well...we know how THAT is going to turn out 8-)

It's not possible for a major hurricane to hit south Florida. I recently learned on these boards that there is apparently a force field of some sort just south of Florida that prevents major hurricanes from making landfall there.

The high-res version is un-be-freaking-lieavable...

This is the KEY reason we all find these things so impressive - and so addicting. Simply amazing what nature can create with no help from mankind.

AHHH Brother...you are reading my emotions...not my intellect :-)

If you would keep in touch more...maybe you wouldn't confuse the two! Maybe we can get together for another election night...except this time you will (hopefully) go home before 2 am...and our wives won't be mad at us because we...well...were mad.

Seriously, think it curves enough to avoid the GOM...and if it does come into the GOM...then it is there for a short time and hits the panhandle of FL.

Now...if I was a wishcaster...then I would be thinking with my emotions...not my intellect. Then...of course...I would be of another political persuasion and you would not be coming over to watch elections

That is breathtaking, it is a shame that something that beautiful is so destructive...

I kept htinking a S Carolina hit because of Gaston and Hermine, but they accelerated North very rapidly, and the Ridge filled in strong and fast as well, pinnig Frances down on a Westerly course. It does in some ways parallel andrew track, but his intensity was much different, and htere was a much simpler climate around him than the total chaos htat transpired hte last few days. BUt Im going to eat crow now and say I was wrong, and Orlando needs to batten down hte hatches once again, only htis time it iwll be much closer to home.

here's hoping it doesn't track into the Gulf. Whereever she goes, there's going to be some real damage if she stays strong.
