Without a double maxima I don't see how the wind field could have expanded so much.

Was Nora supposed to go inland?

I don't think it was officially supposed to go inland but I remember the GFS a couple of days ago showing it to go inland.

So we've definitely seeing some deepening, but the winds haven't quite caught up yet. Looked like a center miss, so MSLP is probably below 970 mb.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

AF303, the same plane that suddenly had a failure as soon as it entered Henri, has now stopped transmitting just minutes after takeoff.

I hate this plane still.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

This is gonna be one of those cases where the pressure falls and the wind field just expands instead of becoming very tight and intense.

RI underway now... pressure looks to be way down. Specials advisory should be forthcoming.

Looks like the max wind band isn't *quite* on the center yet. Still needs to tighten up

They should just replace it with a new plane honestly.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.
