Outer Eye Diameter: 14 nautical miles (16 statute miles)

Isn't that inner and outer eye reversed? How is an inner eye larger than the outer eye

Just technical FYI - "cooling" is the word you're looking for, as the darker reds represent colder cloud tops.

I think he literally means the storm’s warm core, not the cloud tops

The eye is in long range out of key west now.

Pinar Del Rio gets tagged a lot

Western Cuba has got to be one of the most hit places in the basin.

I am only a tropical weather enthusiast. My predictions are not official and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

They got hit by a rapidly intensifying Ida last year. Camille ran over them. pretty much if I see a hurricane shoot the Yucatan channel or pass over western cuba...i feel like someone else downstream is highly likely to have a bad time.

ElectricStorm wrote:Looking at the Cayman radar, the eye appears to be getting better defined and it looks like one eyewall now rather than concentric. I would think the pressure will continue to drop until it reaches Cuba. We'll see if the winds will be able to start mixing down

I’m half expecting the inner eyewall to materialize out of nowhere again. Seriously, where did that even come from? Ian had a normal-sized 30nm eye and suddenly an inner eyewall appeared, like an anti-EWRC.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Do my eyes deceive me or did the track shift East on the NHC graphic for the 8 pm update when compared to the 5 pm?

Always is and indicates a healthy cane. Satellite images are very impressive once they become organized.

No track update, but they do update the position. Notice the little tail turned E, that represents the 8pm position being E of the 5pm track.
