The sheer is ripping it apart.
It's tiny... and if it expanded it would still be tiny.

Sorry to sound dumb - but if the sheer is tearing it up - does that mean the track will shift more north - more toward Galveston area?

Shear is not "tearing it apart." Shear is 10 knots over the center and its close to entering an area of less shear.

You can start to see on satellite imagery cirrus moving off to the NW, a sign that shear is less in this region.

Agreed, Im not seeing a lot of signs of sheer tearing this thing up. Earlier you could easily see the cloud tops being blown off some of the outflows and 'feeders', but that seems to have diminished, and there is a nice new blow up of storms near the center. It may have taken a step back earlier, but seems to be back on course for slow strengthening.

Texas A&M Corpus Christi Issues Evacuation Order

CORPUS CHRISTI - Students who live on the campus of Texas A&M Corpus Christi are being told to evacuate because of concerns over Tropical Storm Don.

The campus will shut down completely at 5 p.m. Thursday and won't reopen until Monday morning.

Students who have no place to go will be provided bus transportation Friday morning to the A&M campus in Laredo.

Little off topic.. but I always wondered. What determines when Satellite goes into Rapid Scan mode? Seems sometimes that it is completely random.

I agree with you on that. If indeed he holds his own as of right now. Not sure when recon is scheduled to go back...probably early evening.

Don is now exiting the area of shear that messed it up last night and this morning, down to 5-10 knots. The only problem it has now is dry air, but since Don is so tiny, it will be a relatively large problem. Here's hoping that Don brings Texas rainfall.

That's a pretty good model consensus! All have shifted south! I think central to upper TX coast can go ahead write this one off! Corpus to Brownsville it is!
