Very interesting to note that Ravensdale and Northbend have continued to see lows in the mid 20s the past two night. Apparently they have managed to stay under some degree of continental influence. This string of cold nights has been IMPRESSIVE!

I can hardly contain my excitement over what all of this may mean for our weather in the coming months. This type of regime almost always leads to the good stuff!

Can you believe Seattle's record low for today is 2F! That's incredible considering how late in the season it is. Also, anyone notice that earthquake activity has picked up on St. Helens? Wonder if any thing is going to come out of it or if it will end without noticable changes to the dome.

Andrew...I am almost certain that record is a typo. It should probably be twenty something. Thanks for the info on St. Helens. I like to keep up on that. Maybe something big is about to happen up there.

It says part of the crater is bulging 4 feet per day. That is impressive!

I thought the record was off too because you think the records for yesterday or tomorrow would be much lower, but it is listed on komo (http://www.komotv.com/weather), wunderground (http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/fin ... uery=98042), and accuweather (http://www.accuweather.com/adcbin/publi ... 2005&cdd=0).

The record is from 1951. I have a copy of the official weather records for that month, and the low was actually 28. Much more believeable!

Looking at the 18z, I continue to be amazed! It is showing 582 heights by day 10 or so. The big question is going to be placement. If the ridge is right over us, it's going to be an ugly inversion with smog and temps not far above normal. If the axis is around 130 - 135 W, then we could be talking about insanely high temps. The other big question is how and when we will come out of that ridge.

At any rate, I am more convinced than ever, that we are in big trouble when the other shoe drops!

Anthony...I have something very interesting for you to look up. I seem to remember that you have access to weather maps for past events (something I have yet to find a link for). We had a freakish warm day on April 14, 1984. I am wondering how similar the maps were on that day, to what we are going to be in with that next ridge. I hope you can find maps that far back!

I have no records that go that far back. Sorry, but I'm not help in that department. If current forecasts were correct, the end of next weekend and next week would be almost summer-like in temperatures. But like I've stated before, I won't buy it until it actually happens. You just don't see 500 mb heights approaching 580 in the beginning of March...there's a big difference between the beginning and end of March and that's why you can't compare the heat wave of last year to this year.

Everyone enjoy the sun today and tomorrow!! We might experience a rainy pattern this upcoming week!!

Awsome! Sea - Tac ended up with a high of only 47 today. That will put their daily average 4 degrees below normal. It is now in the bag for this month to average solidly below normal. Sea - Tac has also managed to come up with 12 lows of 32 or below this month. That is a very good number for them.

Well, we just took a quick drive up to Ravensdale, and let me tell you, that place is awesome! The scenery is awesome, the new houses are awesome, and the sun is right there in the open pastures shining in your face. Beautiful.

Well I didn't catch any fish, but MAN what an AWESOME day!!! People were out mowing, and pressure washing all around the lake, and wearing shorts doing so!! I just sat out in the boat and soaked up the warm sun!! Now I just fired up the charcoal to cook some steak.

Truly a May or June day (in the sun anyway, little chilly in the shade)!!

Current temp is 44.1 degrees with clear skies.

Who knows, in a week we may not only have the sun of May or June, but the temperatures as well. The only time I really don't like warm temperatures are November-February. If it can get warm in March then I say bring it on.

Wow, a truly awesome day!! Took a drive up to Marysville with my dad and it was beautiful!! Perfect sunshine with temperatures in the upper 50s. And another thing...I've been wearing shorts for the past week. I don't remember the last time I wore shorts for over a week in winter. Just doesn't happen!

This week may be a refreshing change for the mountains, but early indications suggest another prolonged period of dry/warm weather beginning next weekend. Only time will tell.

I think we can all give up on snow/arctic air for this winter season...even snow_wizzard!! lol.

Hi Guys!

After a really thick fog this morning, the low clouds disapated around late morning, and from early noon onward...skies were all clear. The sunny skies made a for a nice afternoon. My high today was 56 with a low of 31.

Good evening all. Taking a look at the GFS this evening...tomorrow should be our last nice weather day. Well, for a little while anyway. 28th through about the 5th, features showers to steady showers at times and a nearly zonal flow. Then in the long range...large ridge of high pressure still taking hold and lasts from the 6th through the evening of the 13th. 850MB temps during this period are +9 to +12C, with 500MB vorticity heights of 570 to 576DM. However, the 9th could be one of the warmest days as 500MB heights go up to 582DM. So with good off shore flow, and light southerly surface winds.... current thinking of couple days of temps in the upper 70`s still sounds good. and may even see some isolated low 80`s. -- Andy
