Right now, Alex isn't in a hurry to go anywhere. Good for him (bad for humanity somewhere) that he decided to quasi-stall offshore rather than onshore.

Alex is still moving at 7 mph per the last advisory. Don't expect any substantial intensification till the cyclone move a considerable way away from land. I have a feeling we will be watching Alex for several days to come.......MGC

No, it is helping erode the ridge in the gulf on the west side. This is collapsing to steering currents that was pushing Alex wnw.
