Toss it. Only amateur weather hypsters waste time on the Canadian in winter lol (seriously, it's an extreme outlier, and I would say there is very little chance it verifies)

The backend-warming up type icing events seldom verify. They look apocalyptic because you have a lot of warm, moist air coming up. It will overwhelm cold more than likely. I'm not fully sold on it. That doesn't mean we can't have some snow or sleet before it changes.

I believe the GFS showed it as snow a couple days ago. Still a long ways to go though temps may be too warm for anything we do need rain though so I’ll take that.

Yeah, I pointed that out in an earlier post. The Canadian does have a window of temps low enough to cause trouble for portions of Texas, but there really isn't anything to damn the cold air in place, so things should warm rather rapidly with the strong return flow. The EPS does now have a cluster that keeps DFW below freezing next weekend. So, it's not crazy to say that some areas of Texas will start out with freezing rain.

See blue sky to the north moving in fast, likely within 30 mins.

Would like to minimize road melting to try to get a snow day. Lol.

Even if it’s under 20 it will melt a lot with sun.

Still waiting for EC and CMC ensembles, but here are 12Z plots. Canadian continues to smoke crack with its 9F forecast for Houston on Wednesday. It sucks for hurricanes and cold weather, what good is it? Reports of snow flurries all around the Houston area, north and south of me. Dry here.

Have had off and on light freezing rain mixed with sleet here this morning in northwest Houston. Some sleet is starting to accumulate on the roofs...hopefully no icy roads.

Major snowfall in SW Houston!! Looks like tiny ice cylinders about 1/8" long. Going get my sled out of the attic! Temperature fell to 29 deg. Changed over to graupel about 1/32 to 1/16" in size.

1pm and holding at 15 degrees don't see how we get to forecasted 25 unless skies rapidly clear which isn't looking likely.

Up to 19F at DFW with some sun. A lot of snow on the roads have melted.

Here we have a layer of freezing rain from yesterday morning then a layer of sleet from last night and now insulated by a layer of snow. Even though not a lot of precip that will not melt quickly with temps in 10s and likely very little sun today. Tomorrow morning will be hell with temps likely in 0s.

There’s ice all over the roads here in Wharton County. There’s been accidents galore with temps in the 25-27°F range all day.
