I have to disagree with you there in some aspects. I think this year there was some really great talent on AI.

Yes, as in any situation such as a "talent contest", all of them needed a little more training, but who doesn't? Now, as to the search leading up to the end-well that is a whole other world!!!!

It is aimed at a much different age group than us(meaning the older than 30 adult population). I don't know anyone personally who has them either, but know a lot of people that think they have quite a bit of talent. Obviously the newer talents who have been on this year are not going to have anything yet, but the winners and finalists from the last few years have all gone on to have platinum albums and be at the top of the charts so someone likes them.

I have all of Clay's albums and singles, including his Merry Christmas with Love cd. I bought Ruben's first single as well and I have the American Idol's second season's hits cd.

you're right. it must be aimed at a very different age group. but none of my kids or their friends listen to that stuff either. so go figure.

i still have the ultimate respect for someone who has years of training and perform well without the benefit of all the technological assistance...

if any of these folks are that good, they'll be around for a while. dont think christina aguilera or mariah carey have anything to worry about though...

I know plenty of people who have Clay Aiken albums and I own "Thankful" by Kelly Clarkson (my first AI pick). I plan on buying Carrie's albums as well. :)

Star Search was good also. A lot of very famous celebs got their starts there.

You won't get any argument from me on that one!

Bo has been around the southern rock circuit for a good while and has supported himself nicely apparently, but has obviously used AI for his BIG BREAK. Sometimes that is what it takes-a lucky break or some vehicle to "showcase" your "talents". It is a tough business to break into for sure.

Absolutely! It's what they make of their opportunity that counts. I think that's why you here alot more about Clay. He's very business savvy plus he's now a UNICEF Ambassador. Kelly has done very well for herself. Ruben and Fantasia are more R&B and so their songs fit into that "niche". Carrie will DEFINATELY country and probably cross over into pop.

Congrats to Carrie Underwood!

I remember a few weeks ago, no matter if Bo won or not, he's gonna get a recording contract from Clive Davis.
