I cannot stress this enough, but if you are evacuating, please get photos or take video of everything of value in your home as well as the outside. With damage from these storms things unfortunately get washed away, and if you have no record of what was there you are at the mercy of the insurance company. If you have photos as proof you will be one step ahead when it comes time to file claims.
Actually...this is not bad advice to ANYONE! A couple times a year just take inventory with your cell phone. Earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, asteroid (little one), or whatever...if you have a record you are way ahead when it comes to filing claims
