Shift that 100 miles west so our friends in the SA area (where the drought is the worst) can get in on more of the action and I’ll take it.

I like the look of the NAO but the EPO doesn’t really look to cooperate anytime soon. So yeah, I definitely see some chances for some cooler weather and rain, but I don’t see any real cold on the table yet. Maybe areas in NTX and OK can cash in on some wintry stuff but anything south of I-20 might have to wait till the EPO can help us.

Yeah, the AUS metro went from projected 2 to 3" rain a few days ago, to "Lucky if we get 0.5"" on today's projection.

What a "Super Niño" this has been!

Hard to trust media articles on weather. And I’m a journalism teacher…
But, models have shown it weakening quickly. They also have shown this for months even as it was strengthening.
Heck, you see that at the end. When it’s supposed to be weakening it’s still getting stronger.
Rather exaggerated piece.

Yeah, it was one of those articles that popped up on the bottom of my browser, I guess because I've been searching "El Nino", etc. Click bait.lol So much sensational journalism these days to distract from the science.

I’m over here in south Louisiana watching gulf low after gulf low on the GFS. Perfect scenario for us to get wintry precipitation. There is only one thing missing….

Hey everyone! It has been a while, but I am back! The fall semester is over and I am officially 3 semesters away from earning my bachelor's degree in meteorology now! Glad to see that the weather pattern has finally become more progressive for the South. The drought was absolutely horrible for areas around Jackson earlier this semester.

It's crazy watching all these storms with no cold air tbh
Hopefully in January at some point things will be different

I still think they are it's just probably gonna be January. It definitely looks like a more typical El Nino pattern by then

Snow cover across the lower 48 is pretty paltry. Granted mid-December can be variable.

2009 to date.

2013

last year 2022. We were getting ready for a modeled big cold blast en route.

I’m not gonna sit here and say I know what the snowpack has looked like at this date every year prior to this but I can’t imagine it gets much worse than this.
