When I was younger I thought I knew my gut feeling.....wrong. When I got older I learned about my gut feeling. Rita was a perfect example. I knew a week in advance it was going to be an issue. Funny thing is we really never know unless your gut feeling is far overwhelming from what I have learned.

Someone posted this link 1 and 1/2 hours ago, and look at the flare up around the center since then. This satellite captures it nicely.

1st time forcast. Going out on a limb here to say that Dean will feel some effects of the trough to it's North and move more WNW in the next 24 hours. I see a Antigua, St Kitts & St Croix hit as a Cat 3 Storm. From there it's anyone guess.

the best part of the hurricane watches when they are issued (probably tonight) Is that we get intermideate advisories!

Models are going to change a few more times, you can bet on that. Not time to breath a sign of relief yet.

The bad part is that someone is really under the gun when that happens....

As we get into forecasting storms this season, let's not forget to incorporate the Storm2K disclaimer at teh beginning of any of our forecasts, even if they are obviously amateur opinion.

I would not trust any of these models out beyond 3 days, have seen them get it wrong time and time again that far out and especially when they are running with no atmospheric sampling.

Is the information that is entered about a tropical system alot different after a plane has flown into a system and has any track of a storm significantly changed after that info has entered compared to info entered prior to any flights?
