If I am wrong, I will officially re-label this the winter of your content come March 1st!

Ntxw, I think I'll jump on board with this prediction and take it a step further....DFW will have more than one day of less than 40 F for a max high, considering DFW has only had two of these days so far this winter, 1 in Dec and 1 in Jan, that would be a heck of a feat for the winter of 2012-13

A whole lot of cold-mongering going on around here. ;-) Since in most cases DFW records a sub-40 high in February over the first 10 days of the month, I'd say that there is a good chance of no further sub-40 highs at DFW this year.

:uarrow:
Wow!
68-69 degrees when I got up this morning on my weather station. The drive into work around 7:15 am showed 70 degrees on the car thermometer when I started the trek. When I got to work, it showed 72.

What month are we in again?!?!

Sounds like heaven to me. While no one was looking, I nudged the Earth a bit closer to the sun to warm things up a bit.

It is with deep sadness I report the following from Larry Cosgrove. I asked if winter was really over in Texas and his response was "you will see some cold air tomorrow night into Thursday....but by and large it is done in the Lone Star State..."

Guess its time to start getting ready for spring.....

I'd gladly take that weather also ... in August.

I am not ready to throw in the towel. No. I just cannot. I will not wave the white flag. Justice must prevail. He (Wxman57) cannot have the rest of Winter, Spring and Summer. It would be just...just an outrage. LOL.

Exactly. No need for AC or heat, and you can go outside in shorts (wish it weren't quite so windy though). For God's sake we're at the 26th parallel, we're supposed to be warm in the winter.

Winter over in January huh? Seem to remember the tropical season was "over" a few years ago in August.

Of course that was before September rolled around and introduced Texas to Hurricane Ike.

Just saying...

I'm not going to address the "winter for Texas is over" chatter as I made a post this weekend about how unsupported I think those arguments are. Now, let's look at the facts. The 6z and 12z GFS show a winter storm for Texas in la-la land (288 hours-plus). Now, the 12z Euro shows an encouraging trend late in its run with developing ridging off the West Coast and a deepening trough over the Rockies.

Couple all of this with the AO progged to tank again in 10 days as well as a slightly positive PNA ... and the MJO moving into octant 8 and maybe 1 ... that's all "good stuff" if you want winter weather in Texas.

Yeah. Yeah. Not yeah on Ike ( went through it, have the t-shirt and now done with it...LOL), but yeah, we are just one month into winter. Just one month...

Good to hear! Then you won't mind waiting for next winter. Cold weather is so depressing. ;-)

I see that the 12Z GFS does indicate some snow for northern OK beyond 288 hrs to include the NE TX panhandle. Wouldn't rule that out, of course:

Yeah, yeah, it's too early to declare that winter is over, but I like entertaining the idea...
