Latest Euro weeklies chill almost the entire lower 48 from the end of week 2 through 6...very active southern storm track, most aggressive with southern plains winter weather I've seen all winter

+PNA/-EPO driven. The PNA is also along the west coast which is pretty good for us. Some blocking in the Davis Straits. Plains and east likely benefits from a pattern like that. Warm and dry out west.

Yeah, though not frigid by any means...I'd say this was a pretty bad temperature bust for DFW from OP guidance. From 60s/70s to 40s is a pretty hard bust cause fronts "stall in January", maybe in July . The clothing required between the two is quite drastic...imagine had you planned a camping trip dressed for 70s

lol I opened the windows when the front passed at 4pm and had to close them because it's too cold.

What a horrible bust. I even saw a certain TV station still forecasting 50s tonight at 5-6pm and 60s tomorrow... The HRRR is even too warm!. 4km NAM seems to be closest to reality and has the front getting into Austin tomorrow afternoon

Long range GFS shows a winter storm across the northern third of Texas around January 26-27.

Looks like the front is just about to Waco. Will be interesting to see how close it gets to Austin, whether it slows and stalls over the northern suburbs or makes it through the city. Only has 100 miles to go.

I am a weather hobbyist living 3.5 miles south of Downtown Austin and in no way or fashion should anything I say concerning forecasts be taken seriously. Please check your local NWS for accurate weather forecasting and conditions.

This quote from the DFW NWS forecast discussion this evening shows the front stalling around Temple.

It looks like the cold front will likely
move to near an Athens to Temple to Lampasas line before becoming
stationary toward daybreak

Looks like the front is on my doorstep with tennis in the mid 60s and S winds here right now. Van is in the 50s. The front is showing obviously, but the difference between staking NW of DFW and stalling over NE TX is huge.

It looks like your area could average around 2-4 inches, with some some strong storms possible as well.

Down to a cool 71 degrees this morning. It's been a long, cold winter, but I think I'm going to make it. GFS does indicate 30s down to Houston in 2 weeks, but I'm not inclined to believe the 14-day GFS. Looking for a long bike ride up to Beck's Prime in the Heights on Saturday. Should be near 80 degrees - just a tad cool.
