All toll roads in Central and Southern Florida are temporarily free of charge, spotted it from a FLDOT Camera.

They gonna close the post office and schools here all week for a summer thunderstorm event SMH.. i get it the evacs, things looked bad. But, come on closing down businesses and schools for the whole week, when its just a rain event?
WIthout knowing precise landfall location, it's necessary.
Also, power will be out. Schools/businesses won't be fun places with no electricity.

Cell with a hook is still offshore.
Will likely tighten up when it hits land.

Plans are clickin and going smooth...
Were you present in Charley? If I remember correctly, Sanibel Island became TWO islands! The water intrusion created a channel that ended up splitting the island into two separate land masses.
Crazy stuff!

Just like Jon Snow..."I know nothing" except what I know, and most of what I know is gathered by the fine people of the NHC

No NE-SW pass? They've gone up in altitude as well it looks like and the AF plane seems to have turned around almost immediately after leaving.

That HWRF model run was a complete nightmare....The EWRC could delay it bombing out so that when it does, it's closer to Florida...

No, they’re still at ~1000 gpm. I was thinking there might be a search-and-rescue like what happened in Lorenzo, but now they’re over land.
Recon sure is going swell tonight.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I'm in Indian River County. How could we not be under a Hurricane Watch or Warning? Is Ian really supposed to lose that much strength by the time it crosses? Because according to the models it seems to track pretty close to Indian River County on the east coast. Add in being on the "dirty" side of the storm as well.

Looks (on radar, at least) like the remaining/northern piece of the old inner eyewall might "meld" with the outer eyewall.
