Sometimes you have to throw the models out the door and "eye" cast. Use your own two eyes and look at the darn thing.

As I said, it still has rainbands. That's not an annular hurricane. An annular-type hurricane perhaps.

well i will agree it looks very very good for a cat 1 storm

and it is behaving very nicely for surfers (though i would like a bit more northerly movement)

Don't see where it got personal. This is not an annular hurricane as proven.

It has an enormous eye, but other than that, it doesn't look like any annular hurricane I've seen.

Regardless, they have to be completely gone (and from what I learned on the PDF below, it has to persist for at least 3 hours before it can be called Annular).

Annular (BTW, this is Hurricane Isabel):

Here is a good article on Annular Hurricanes, which will show Bertha is NOT an Annular Hurricane, per the definition: The definition is on the third page of the PDF I believe.

Sorry, but having rainbands doesn't disqualify a storm from being annular, just so long as its only in visibility. For instance, 98's Howard, used as an example of annularity, had a giant rainband.

99's Beatriz also had noticeable rainbands.

I refer back to the annularity index.

Never trust Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annular_hurricane

According to them Bertha is the "earliest Annular Hurricane" to form. What a load of BS.
