Hanna's that string of yellow dots on the map that now seems to come ashore around Georgetown, SC.

Actually at one time, didn't they take it and run it up the coast line? I mean, it wasn't the past few days or so, but at one time. Seems everyone has had a hard time getting a handle on this one. You all sure are getting some rain and winds though...Old girl is just fickle, she wants just a little of everyone

Little time to type, but here's a recent surface plot with satellite overlay. Hanna's center is passing very near a buoy now. So far I haven't seen a wind over 35 kts, but it must have a tiny area of higher winds. Most winds around Hanna are 25-35 kts:

Nice big convective burst over Hanna though most of the convection is on the western side.

Yep... not often Washington D.C. gets included in a tropical storm warning for a still-tropical system.

Looks like AJC3 got some love from the local Treasure Coast newspapers this morning in regards to Hanna's impacts around here...See the following from tcpalm.com http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2008/sep/05/hanna-will-bring-wind-rain-through-midnight/

The Treasure Coast is in for a windy, rainy Friday, but by midnight tonight Hanna's effects will be north of the area and no major impacts are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents can expect sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph today with higher gusts that could reach 35 to 40 mph during squalls this afternoon. The Treasure Coast could receive 1 to 2 inches of rain, with some coastal areas receiving as much as 3 inches.

"(The wet, windy weather) should continue throughout the day, and we'll start seeing a decrease late this afternoon into the early evening as Hanna continues to move northward today," weather service meteorologist Derrick Weitlich said.

The biggest impacts are offshore. Boaters during the day on Friday are urged to stay off the seas because gusts even in nearshore waters could reach 45 to 50 mph, Weitlich said.

Boating conditions are expected to gradually improve tonight and significantly improve during the weekend, however, said weather service senior forecaster Tony Cristaldi. Cristaldi said there may be a swell of up to 3 or 4 feet from the lingering effects of Hanna, but that the water would not be choppy.

For beach-goers, there will be rough surf, rip currents and beach erosion throughout the day and weekend. The likely peak time for any beach erosion would at high tide today, around noon.

Once Hanna passes, residents should expect a dry weekend with temperatures around 90 degrees and lows in the mid 70s.

Hanna reminds me of 2005's Hurricane Ophelia, at least for Florida. Interestingly, a convective band developed overnight across parts of Palm Beach County, and rainfall observations match the radar estimates of 4+ inches of rainfall. Indeed, Boca Raton's South Beach Park reports over 5 inches of rainfall since about midnight.

jay,

what do you think the chances are of this now becoming a hurricane before making landfall?

I'm taking a look at a variety of satellite and radar imagery right now; I'll have my notes ready in a few minutes.
