Downright depressing and unfair actually.

I know, we actually live quite close to each other, I was really hopping for some snow. :crying:

Does it look over for us? Or could something still happen?

You guys shouldn't feel so bad, despite what many think we have posters in Texas not in north TX that don't see a threat often. It's been unfair to them for years and years. It's not set in stone there will be vorticity overhead so flurries or light snow or a stronger shortwave is still possible. If not there will be more chances likely even better heading into the coming weeks. I hope the southern half of Texas cashes in this weekend!

Agreed. Btw what's the avatar gif from? Looks like we had a nice snow event.

DFW should get more chances before winter is over, didn't y'all already have an ice storm through there?

It's very rare that SE TX gets in on any winter weather, wish we could get snow and not ice but I'll take it. (Waits for the 12z GFS in hopes that it doesn't do away with precip all together).

Yes, but crippling ice storms aren't any fun :( . And I haven't had a good snow storm since 2011. (unfortunately I missed the Christmas Miracle of 2012).

The absolutely worst part is that the model are saying no precip, We really need precipitation here to fill up are lakes.
I would be happy if we got just rain.

:uarrow: true dat professor. Here's a panoramic I took from the northern end Ray Hubbard yesterday. Where I was standing should've been about a foot of water. This is looking south and then westward to northwest. I'm not hot linking it because it's a 7mb pic.

Where are you seeing that. I'm looking at projections of precip type from the GFS and seeing freezing rain and sleet, not snow. The snow is well west of San Antonio and Austin.

In this situation, I would focus on precipitation type forecast ( not that it will be that accurate this far out), not the 'snow depth' output that many free sites offer.

That is one nasty mess the 12z GFS is showing for my area of the state. Looks like a mix of sleet and freezing rain to me. I kinda agree with wxman57. Oops, did I just write?!

Weatherbell accumulated snowfall.....Looking at the Precipitation types you are correct on that is showing mostly Freezing Rain and Sleet.

Same place I'm looking, but I'm looking at the "Precip Type - Accumulation graphics. No snow there for AUS/SAT. So the GFS doesn't appear to agree with itself...

The soundings, to me, look more like a snow event early Friday for Austin. Looking at the 12Z GFS.

I really hope the models are underestimating the short wave, any amount of precip would be great.

What is it showing for points further east into south/se LA?

Also can somebody post some graphics of the 06 and 12z runs with precip type. Don't have ability to pull them up right now. Thanks.
