This is a good summary of the 1992 season, including the 3 systems that formed before Andrew (scroll down to see them) - so a little know fact (even to me) is that Andrew was actually the fourth system that season, or the third tropical system:

Saying first named storm is easier than saying first subtropical or tropical cyclone to attained one-minute sustained winds of 34kts or greater.

Subtropical storms weren't named in 1992. They are now. Andrew would have been the 2nd named storm based on today's naming conventions.
