Very bizarre. It's either another Monica where Drudge got wind of a washington post story a week before Clinton's near-death experience began or it's a Lehane lie.
I'll take bets. I'm not naieve. I think it's more likely it's a lehane smear, but anything is possible.

Interesting story. WorldNet is also carrying the story that was publicized in Drudge. However, they refer to a comment that Clark made a few days ago "off the record" to newspeople that there would be a situation with an intern. However, as already posted in another thread here on the board, Clark announced his endorcement of Kerry today.
Wonder what is REALLY going on with the Democrats....

as rush pointed out. they are afraid to break the story. they are jealous of drudge. they also want to give time to kerry to get his story straight. and fox doesnt want to go first because they are seen as conservative. its coming out. i still see kerry as the nominee, but it hurts in the general election. this is great for hillary, who wants to run in 08

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THU FEB 12, 2004 20:01:49 ET XXXXX
OUT OF AFRICA: KERRY PREPARES RESPONSE TO MEDIA PROBE OF RELATIONSHIP
**Exclusive**
Democratic presidential frontrunner John Kerry is planning a response to a DRUDGE REPORT exclusive which first revealed the frantic behind-the-scenes drama surrounding a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry!
The nature and details of a claimed two-year relationship, beginning in the Spring of 2001, between a young woman and Kerry is at the center of serious investigations at several media outlets.
After being approached by a top news producer, the woman fled to Africa, where she remains, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
Unlike the Monica Lewinsky drama, which first played out publicly in this space, with audio tapes, cigar and a dress, the Kerry situation has posed a challange to reporters investigating the claims.
"There is no lawsuit testimony this time [like Clinton with Paula Jones]," a top source said Thursday night. "It is hard to prove."
A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head.
Kerry is scheduled to appear on IMUS IN THE MORNING on Friday. Later he is scheduled to join General Wesley Clark, who, in an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue."
Reporters who witnessed Clark making the stunning comments marvel at the General's reluctance to later confirm they were spoken -- only to later endorse Kerry for the nomination!

actually its not a rehashed allegation

Rainstorm, I was curious about all this, so I did a short Google search. My results are far from scientific. But here's what I found:
First, sadly, it seems that members of Congress from both parties have admitted to extramarital affairs. Some of these affairs have even produced children! My own opinion about this kind of news is that over time, the American people have become less sensitive to infidelity. Call it the general moral decay of America, call it anything you want..........I don't think very many people are going to make a big deal out of an elected official having an affair.
Next, my research turned up some interesting facts about both major political parties! The Republican party seems to be split between the Conservatives and the more moderate types. Same with the Democrats-only the extremists in that party favor the left instead of the right.
Now what does all this prove? I honestly don't know, except that I probably wasted about an hour that I should have spent doing other, more meaningful things

Same with "repubs". Did you know Abraham Lincoln was a moderate Republican? You can read about moderate Republicans at http://moderaterepublican.net.
Just my 2 cents.

Because, IMHO, you're tarring too many people with the same brush.

You have to be careful here though. Most people want to think that they are understanding of others opinions so they claim the middle road. You have to look issue by issue before you see what peoples affiliations really are. Some on this board might say I am a rabid right-winger (their right by the way), but I also am more moderate on some issues. I am staunchly anti-abortion, but (look out...its the "but" word) I cannot argue against abortion in rape cases or if the mothers life is in danger. I think a person can be moderate on issues but not political affiliation. My opinion of course.

thats not my point. look at how the liberal kerry press is hounding bush over a 10 year old story that was over in 2000. they are doing whatever they can to take bush down. it is amazing seeing them pretend this story is "new". one more thing. if the press had the same info on bush, they would be like a pack of murderous rabib dogs, looking to rip bush apart. does anyone doubt that?

I would consider myself more moderate than liberal. I think that you are right in your assessment Marshall about most Americans.

Is Kerry ruined?
He must be some he-man since he had prostate cancer during the time this affair supposedly happened. Men generally can't perform under those circumstances.

Gosh. Either I'm not following the story correctly or I'm missing something. I don't see the press as a pack of murderous rabid dogs, eager to get their dripping liberal fangs into the President.
What I do see is a group of news-hungry folks, out to scoop one another in any way possible.
Remember when Anthrax was found at the AMI Building here in Boca Raton? That building is across the street from my office. I saw first hand how hard the reporters worked to get news - any shred of it - on the air for their station or newspaper FIRST. It didn't have anything to do with a liberal or conservative bias back then, it was who could be there with a new angle that no one had heard before. I am positive the same thing is going on right now.
Just wait. As soon as some new "news" or story breaks, this story about the President is going to sink like a stone. It's just there's nothing else really happening right now.
