Well here in SW WI... I recorded 28.6F and LOTS of frost. My deck was like an ice skating rink because of all the rain that fell yesterday hadn't had a chance to evaporate. Coldest night since May 3rd...

Last night was very chilly here, we reached into the upper and even some mid 20's. yes, KingofWeather, I do not usually use the 18 or 6z GFS, it is an off hour one. It was the latest one that was on my bookmark at the time. Speaking of these temperatures, some of you should enter in the forecasting contest, test your skills. Anybody can join, and it is just for fun, look in the FOrecasting Contests Forum.

Well no, during the heart of winter our average low is around 40. It's nothing compared to up north but we do see a fair share of freezes and cold weather during the winter. Currently 87 w/ Heat index of 92...welcome to October lol.

Head on out this way. Currently 64 degrees with a few stratocumulus clouds overhead. :) It'll get you out of the cold (and away from the hurricanes) in no time. ;)

Officially down to 31 at the airport this morning...probably upper 20's in outlying areas. Looks like the growing season is over...although I think some plants are hardy down to the mid 20's. I can't believe I actually had to close my windows last night...a week or so ago I was just opening them after it was close to 90.

One plant that definatly cannot last in a freeze is morning glory's. Every single leaf on those is gone, some of the flowers are still alive, but probably not for long. I just noticed that this morning, so I thought I would post it.

Actually had to fire up the furnace in the middle of the night when I woke up shivering. I don't recall using the furnace this early last year.

Our furnace just got turned on yesterday, had to replace some of the filters in it before it could get going. It was a chilly nights before then.

I thought about it too, but just grabbed another blanket and ended up being ok. I may have to Monday night...it looks to be a few degrees colder, and it will be cooler during the day Tuesday than it is today. After this cooldown we may see some warm weather by the weekend...perhaps into the 80's again next week!

I'll be ready for the warm weather to come back! Still getting my vehicle prepared for the winter season. 80's would be sure bliss. :P Winter used to be my favorite season but now that we live on top of a big hill with a steep drive, even with 4-wheel drive I don't like navigating it. It seems like once it snows or we get freezing rain our gravel drive stays like a sheet of ice. Fell on my back last winter just getting to my SUV. Oil company won't come up either in the winter unless the drive is pretty much cleared. We're surrounded by forest so even with the leaves off the trees not much sunlight gets in to dry out the drive through much of the winter. Actually, all the trees around here is one the reasons I get so apprehensive when we have severe storms. Way too many trees to keep them trimmed. It would cost a fortune.
