We rented Without a Paddle and I put it in the category with Big Daddy, Baby Genius (stupid movie!), Spy Kids I and II, etc. There were a few funny parts but it was very sophomoric, if that's a good way to describe it. Our 15 year old daughter had been stuck in this type of movie style, for so long, it was getting old. She's finally moved on to the teen movies. Or ones like Almost Famous, High Fidelity, etc. - about time!
I fell asleep in the theater watching Spy Kids I! I've never lived that down and kept asking questions, like how is this possible, come on, where are their parents? LOL When I didn't get good answers I dosed off.

Weathermom - this was years ago, when Spy Kids put me to sleep! But my daughter Laura never lets me forget it. And she kept waking me up that day too - Mom, you're missing it, wake up.....it was one of those busy days, you run-run-run and then sit down. Suddenly getting very sleepy. She was pretty mad at me. When I woke up the credits were rolling and she was pretty upset!!! When we saw Spy Kids II coming out, I said hey save your money, I'll nap at home...by then she was over that type movie! LOL

We watched the Aviator tonight. Wow, what can I say? Was it a complete waste of time? No, not exactly. I can see that it was an epic movie, deserving of awards, LD is superb in the role of Howard Hughes. But it just was a very strange movie, b/c HH was a strange man, with OCD issues - big time! When it was over, all I wanted was to do something so normal! I guess I'm left with asking the big question - was it his mother's fault for putting this obsession with germs/cleanliness into his head or was it a result of being quarantined at a young age? I'm just not clear on that. What I do know is he was way too old for a mother to give him a bath....the poor man. His mother really warped his mind - shame on her. Feel free to tell me if I have that wrong...

Typical Disney movie......quite unbelievable, some sappy, sad moments. But the ending, of which I will not give away, is so Disney-like!!! We all groaned - well this is a Disney flick, ya know....
Thought it would be as funny as the Chevy Chase vacation movies......oh well. Sometimes you just shouldn't try to improve on a classic. CC did it right the first time! Not that this was a remake, not at all....just expected to laugh more.

That's what we wanted to rent last night but every copy was rented out.
My grandfather wanted to see it at Christmas, but I warned him that it was my understanding that Alexander was portrayed as...you know...not that there's anything wrong with that.
So, he changed his mind. Then, I made the mistake of seeing "Closer." Two hours of my life I still miss.

I liked European Vacation best. Then again, I like Dana Hill.
BTW, remind me to check Ausiello this week? I'm not in the habit of looking at his column like you are...and thankfully, you catch good stuff!
I sent in a question, but I'm not sure if he'll answer it.
